   I was on the beach Monday the 25th. There were police riding up and down the beach blowing whistles telling people to get out of the very rough surf. Signs no swimming. I can’t tell you how many people went back in as soon as the cops passed. Self responsibility does come in to play here.

    Belmar town fathers did a good job with the existing beachfront regulations, that only need enforcement, to protect the public and satisfy insurers.

    Any additional lifeguard protection costs could be paid by the Beach Utility and recovered by beach badge sales.

You would need to cover the entire beachfront and then when people see lifeguards they think they can swim and be protected . I think Belmar does have lifeguards on beach after the season but we don’t publicize it to give a false sense of security . Tom has it right SEASON IS OVER!swim at your own risk.and when hurricane weather is about NO SWIMMING ALLOWED!
