Thought it would be interesting to see what you guys thought about a few staffing decisions Mark will be having to make soon. Not sure how long the contracts involved are so he might not be able to make changes right away.

In my opinion its time Belmar be run as a Town with beach rather than the outgoing admin running Belmar as a beach with a town. Look at the downtowns of Manasquan,Point Pleasant and Spring Lake, they have stable quality establishments. The vacant stores are eyesores and are not inviting for other businesses to enter. The parking situation must also be addressed.
The current store owners were subjected to regular shakedowns over and over again. Who wants to set up a non-alcohol business when once a month/week when the protection ₩£%÷! from the Borough is out with upturned palms. Ridiculous.
Everybody needs to go.
No question about it. Campbell and Hiseman need to go! Along with their ridiculous, inflated salaries that they have been robbing from the taxpayers for years. If Magovern won, it would have continued with Connollys blessing. By by to both of you!
DRAIN THE SWAMP…..everyone must go from the top down. All in this current administration are complicit in how the town was run into the ground. They all fell in line when their jobs were held over their heads by the Queen of Mean. Rumor has it that she shook down numerous merchants for various items. Wait until she leaves and the horror stories will commence about her abhorrent behavior towards others. Clean the slate and we all know that all or most of the Borough workers read this blog. They must go….Meatball lady, Cone Man, Mean Man Campbell, Cone man’s special friend hire with no background: Chief Lifeguard & Faker Fabio.DTS. I have faith with the incoming administration.
Mike Campbell is always there if a resident has a problem. Almost immediately. I think he should stay. The rest can go.
Campbell and Cannon, both political mongers, must go. Campbell will survive with his $100k pension. And Cannon, a lawyer, I personally don’t really care what happens to him. No offense Ken. April is an asset to out town. Appears to be very dedicated to her numerous jobs. Give her some slack as she had to survive under the leadership of an witch. Cone man, on the other hand, is not that easy to get rid of. In fact nearly impossible. Mark knows the ins and outs of this PD and is aware of the politics that I’m sure has occurred under Matt. I have faith in that Mark may be able to put the screws to Coney and hopefully he grazes off to a pasture he belongs. He also has the power to restructure the PD into a more efficient department. The fact that Matt snuck in another Captain’s salary in a 25 man department is absolutely ridiculous. Too top heavy is not good. Moral under Coney is, I’m sure, a wreck. And put the screws to Lake Como regarding our services we oblige to them. Stop subsidizing their Lake Como. Their property taxes should not be less that ours, they should be double.
I hear there’s another big cover up in the police department. Cone man may not be grazing off in a pasture he might be in a cell.
Mike Campbell is always available and is quick to address resident’s concerns.
And keep April.
Campbell is a way below director with a way above average salary…….Get him out. Just a mean person…..He knew about the L street beach problems for years and did nothing to correct. Why? He has a way below level of intelligence
April Claudio is masterful at her job-none better. She immediately handles, and finds solutions for concerns of residents. April can multi-task and is well-informed about all facets of borough governance.
Mike Campbell possesses the skills necessary to carry out the many demands of his position. He’s organized, smart, and dedicated. He moves on issues immediately, and is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Does no one else see the big picture around here??? Acting Chief is in cahoots with Campbell Sr. to stick around long enough to make sure Campbell Jr. is the next Chief of Police and now the new Acting Boro Administrator (Ed Kirsehbaum) will seal that deal. Ed K is all part of the master plan with the new Mayor. They all worked together, go fishing together and make master plans together. You can take that to the bank. Guaranteed!
#11 Anytime there is a derogatory remark about Campbell …..you counter with praise and gratitude concerning him. A true lackey….. The guy is a creep. #12 Hope you are wrong
#13-Disagree-There are others who think Campbell is great. I’m not the only one. Read the other commentaries that support his excellent leadership in this very important position. My comment is #11. I’m not # 6 or #9.
Just happened to be at the mailbox by PD on Saturday and saw the Queen of Mean with MC Sr. putting boxes in her car. Wednesday can’t come soon enough to see her finally GONE!!!
April Claudio is tenured in her position as Municipal Clerk, and can only be removed for good cause. See NJSA 40A:9-134. For what it’s worth, my experience has been that she does an excellent job.
Although I’m aware of a number of occasions on which emails and other documents were wrongfully withheld from OPRA requests that I and others have made, I believe those were due to Connolly’s unlawful interference. (Under the OPRA statute, the municipal clerk is the custodian of records, not the BA).

#14 Frankly Scarlet….I don’t give a damn
April has always been there to answer any questions asked and I will gladly say “Keep her”. She does a great job.
S2531. CONVENIENT.
Great quote, #19!
Yes Maria, she does seem like a nice, competent person to me as well.
#22 Thanks I always watch that movie when it’s on TV. Pop corn and soda also
Mike Campbell is the best!
I feel April put her heart and soul into her job. She is pleasant and gives
all she has.I hope she is there for as long as she wants to be.
Mike Campbell helped me one time when the guys black topping took my slate curbs and bricks out a put them on the lawn. Mike cleaned it up and removed the trash and watched the guys
that did it replace the curbs. He didn’t have to. Thanks to both April and Mike for their doing their jobs.
Cone man is in his glory. Come checkout the waste of your tax money, tomorrow, during the rain storm/flooding on Rt 35 near K street. You too can watch the Cone Man in his white shirt carefully laying out his cone pattern at $100/hour. Maybe it’s something he learned at the FBI Academy.
#26-I agree with you about April Claudio and Mike Campbell. April always gets the job done and never fails to carry out a request by a resident whether it be for information or communications to be passed on to other borough staff members. Mike Campbell is helpful to all who approach him, and responds immediately to requests for DPW assistance. We’re fortunate to have both of these fine individuals serving the Belmar community.
Campbell people drinking koolaid. He was a snotty, little Richard (thank you George Mcgill) too many times to count on your fingers and toes.
Mike Campbell has helped me and my neighbors on a number of occasions. He is sensitive to the needs of Belmar residents. Plus, he runs the town beautifully. Mike is always prepared and organized. I agree with #26 and #28.
Huisman must go.
Almost hit me and my 11 year old daughter while jogging. Instead of stopping at the intersection (where he had a stop sign), he sped through so he could get past before us. We had to slow down our jog to let him though. No emergency, just didn’t want to stop for about 3 seconds. That’s his attitude. He may do his job, but I’d like to have someone who 1. does his job 2. has a kind attitude and 3. follows the laws of the road. At his salary, I think we’ll have no trouble finding a candidate willing to do all 3.
#32 Campbell had a similar incident on 12th avenue with the school crossing guard Joe Latesta. When Latesta said something to him about his careless driving, Latesta was the one to get fired. Campell and his obnoxious attitude need to go.
I support Mike Campbell. He’s perfect as DPW supervisor.
Mike Campbell is dependable.
It’s a funny connection that Mike Campbell and Eddie K both worked as chief of detectives for the MCPO but somehow both resurrected unrelated careers as head of public works and now borough adminstrator (after being the fake chief of police for Neptune City)
#36: Couch sleepers are nasty, limp Richards. Big fish in the small intestine of Belmar.
#36- Either #1, He’s the Jack of all trades, #2, He really doesn’t know what he wants to do when he grows up, or #3- It’s politics as usual. And really?? Isn’t there someone out there that is more qualified and can do the job for less?? Would love to know who applied for the job.
Campbell should go. Hiseman should go. Please God, tell me there’s someone more qualified than Kirsenbaum. Walsifer cant be that stupid!
Another prosecutors office person? DPW director Campbell, failure. Lifeguard director Kerchman, failure. BA director Kirsbaum? We are doomed. All from prosecutors office.
Please, help us. We can do better.
Rumor has it Cone man is set to retire and will be the Director of the newly formed Parking and Transportation Dept. at $75k/year. God help us. And how big is this Borough???
Sounds like bill young is o u t
