The supporters of this petition are loud & clear. It’s only one day – let all of Belmar participate in the St. Patrick’s Day tradition. There are so many local employees directly affected by this! I pray you find empathy in your life Dave Schneck – when you die you can’t take the petty blog with you. Here is just one example I found in the comments:
Giancarlo Fallon (22 years old)
Belmar, NJ
I’m an employee at Djais Bar and Grill which is only a seasonal job. Allowing the seasonal liquor license to participate on parade day will make it possible for many other employees like myself to be able to work and have a better financial standing until our season starts in the summer.
You don’t have to wait until I die. I will probably wind the blog down sometime this year as I am preparing to move to NH next year. But there are many people who deserve empathy in this situation, including residents of the area and workers in other bars, and even including “Giancarlo” who maybe, hopefully, can find an actual year-round job.
Are you kidding me?? One day is going to make that much money before summer? It starts with one day and becomes the weekend of the parade, and then for various parade fundraisers. Get another job. What did the people who had your job before you do? I’m sure they got another job. I’m guessing the lifeguards are now going to ask to be paid for the run on the beach – Celtic Chase or something? Or what about the beach badge staff who have a SEASONAL job? Will we start charging year round for badges? Or on those warm days during the off-season call them in and charge for access so that the badge checkers can have a better financial standing until the summer starts?
I really can’t take the support of this seriously. We all know there is a hidden agenda here and that is for D’jais to just be open on Parade day. If they aren’t going to open every weekend after that, then what is the point. They will just re-open in May
If D’jais wants this so badly, then they better be open EVERY weekend from march 1st till the day the liquor license runs out. Otherwise, its a total sham job
#1 – boo hoo. So sad. Cue the violins. The world is so cruel and unfair. Some people are just helpless. Waaaah. Waaaah.
Where was your sympathy and concern when all those people could have been working at Salt the last few seasons to support their families but were denied the ability to do so.
There are plenty of jobs around outside of the season. People just need to be willing to roll up their sleeves and do some real work. Not just look cute and take the entry fee at Dais
Sham. Cah. Resale of the NIGHTCLUB. DAVE’S blog is what this borough needed, ILLUMINATION. You choose after weighing the unvarnished truths. No half truths with this blog author. GOVERNOR, keep your voting residents safe and let them enjoy the peace and quiet of their homes for from November 5th through May. We deserve your support by YOUR VETO. If you don’t VETO extending the Seasonal Liquor licenses there are several homes you can swap for weekend this March and April. Oh, while you are visiting make sure your insurance covers the bumper car madness on the 2 way streets in nice weather. I heard that the Drone proof will be coming.
They are pushing you people around. Add up your tax bills on your strret. Compare it withe DJAIS nightclub. Did yours go up or down and do you use the same amount of services?

What about those who have jobs at year round establishments. You are cutting into their financial well being since now more places are open and their off-season customers could go elsewhere.
The year round staffers goes through some lean times until the season starts at the old NJ shore. We need to support the year round staffers for their faithfulness and their stick to it ethic staying in town instead of collecting unemployment and lolling in the sun in Florida like some of the worthy seasonal staffers who make a bloody fortune in CASH tips frim May through November. Who do Julie and others think they are kidding. We are not easily bamboozled by their Cash baiting charm.
Asbury has a parade too. Lots of great opportunities for work at our shore area. Don’t stop at Belmar. My daughter has a great job in Asbury. Plenty of opportunities Julie and Giancarlo. Don’t wait all season to work.
I agree with Eugene. Booze should not rule Belmar. Too many bars causing chaos in a small town.
Time to support businesses that are family friendly and to actively document the woes DJais & other bars create.
How many people die each month in Belmar from booze related deaths… such as drunk driving accident, alcohol overdose.. alcohol related liver cancer and so on.
Do any of the bars do anything proactive to prevent alcohol abuse???
Some say binging is better than roids? Or Belchingis better than vomiting? Broken windows are better than doors? Crap.
It’s Law and Order that’s needed. Run a clean ship and clean clients come. Dregs bring dregs, end of story. If Christie lies down with the pigs, so be it. Let it be said, then let it be written. Prohibition didn’t help women’s rights it only helped bootlegging.
HONORABLE CHRIS CHRISTIE, Governor of the State of New Jersey: As you told Legislators “welcome to the real world”. Residents of Belmar don’t want Seasonal Liquor Licenses extended two more months. Your constituent.relations@nj.gov have spoken. Please pay attention to our plight and VETO A1850.
What is only one answer to the problem of DJais at this point? Is it punitive action? Shouldn’t the people of the neighborhood take to the streets (possibly close down traffic on Ocean Rd.)and do what has to be done? Haven’t the Mayor, Town council, police, etc. clearly signaled to you their intention not to help you? What about disruption of town meetings? How has stating your case politely worked? I think it is abundantly clear the authorities don’t mean to help you.
Oh yes – Let me go completely off topic here. Although I don’t watch awards ceremonies such as the Oscars, I was happy to find out this morning that there was a great SNAFU last night at the Oscars. It all goes to show, “Honesty is the best policy” – Benjamin Franklin. In that they refused to give the Best Picture award to the Best Picture,”Hell or High Water”, they deserve everything that happened. Couldn’t have happened to a lousier bunch of people. I’m delighted.

Admin can the Governor pocket this again ? Or is all or nothing at this point ?
He can pocket veto again. One thing I like about New Hampshire is that if a bill fails they can’t try again for two years.
He can not pocket veto this bill! Pocket vetoes are only for the end of the session. He would have to absolute veto or conditionally veto.
I stand corrected. Making a lot of mistakes today. Think I need a vacation.
ADMIN – do you know the e-mail address for Gov Christie so we can tell him VETO?
This is all I could find: http://www.state.nj.us/governor/contact/

#15 I agree, we all need to defeat corrupt self serving owners of djais nightclub.
Why should the Governor give Djais a gift? 1 day or 60,
WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

Who made booze the spark plug of Belmar’s economy?
D’Jais doesn’t even carry its own water.

Eugene, sure you are correct they don’t even cover the cost of policing the area.
A wake up for our governor this morning. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/12-injured-car-plows-crowd-new-orleans-parade-article-1.2982428
#23 – correct. also all the illegal club drugs going on in the same places is rampant.
