Well we could ask Matt about all these violations (ramps, bathrooms, concrete pads, decking, etc), but I’m pretty sure it would go something like this:

Reporter: Mr Doherty, will you comment on the recent flurry of violations found by the DEP regarding the post Sandy beach front projects?
Matt: I’m not familiar with the report but I can say that we did everything by the book
Reporter: Well, the report seems to tell a different story. One that suggests that you didn’t really do anything ‘by the book’.
Matt: Well, um, I’m sorry that the DEP is against our recovery.
Reporter: I’m sorry, what was that? Did you just say that the DEP is against your recovery?
Matt: I recused myself. Mr McGovern was in charge. These allegations are false and frivolous. We needed to get it done for Dot Taylor’s family. Buy a board. Home by summer. Aaaaaaaahhhhh.
Reporter: Are you ok, Mr Doherty? You look pale.
Matt: I have a new job now. I am not responsible for the past. It’s the past. Maggie? Maggie? Where is Maggie? Why do you insist on asking me questions?
    Reporter: Because I’m a reporter.
Matt: I didn’t do anything. No new taxes for 8 years! None. Zip. (Looking around nervously) where is Maggie???
Reporter: I’m glad you brought up the no tax thing. Can you comment on the town’s current financial problems and how your no new tax campaign rhetoric may have lead to them?
Matt: Teterborro is the only other town that can say no new taxes. Did you know that? They have an airport. Where is Maggie?!?!! (visibly crying and shaking like a lost child) I don’t like these questions!! I wanna go home.
Reporter: Mr Doherty, we are standing in front of your home. You can go in at any time.
Matt: No! Not there, D’Jais. I wanna go to D’Jais. (suddenly looking at the reporter) wait, your part of the element aren’t you? You people. Always looking for the truth. You disgust me. I have a new job, you can’t pin this stuff that happened while I was in charge on me! I quit being mayor, Epic needed the money don’t you see? Buy a board!!! No new taxes! Where is Maggie? (suddenly Matt faints, slowly and dramatically like a 1930’s movie star)
Reporter: (looking around and then down at Matt who is splayed out on the ground and clearly and unconvincingly faking it) Ok Mr Doherty, thank you for your time.

If you think the violations at the beachfront are bad, wait until the DEP does it’s investigation at the Marina. Rumor has it, the Marina Grille was built without a CAFRA permit. It had been brought up a number of times and our Business Administrator’s comments were “our borough engineer is working on it”. A building permit for the Marina Grille should never have been issued until the CAFRA permit was complete. Matt’s motto … build now…deal with the consequences when I am gone…see you later suckers!”

Many of these violations have been in place since the rebuilding of the boardwalk. So they were in violation for years. Where are those reports??

I always wondered how the 9th avenue pier started, got a liquor license, then added seating near the gas dock.I would be shocked that was approved. Then they build the Marina grill and extend the liquor license to encompass the entire area and take away all the boat parking. Wow when you have friends in high places anything is possible.
