Some Bones To Pick

Well I just got home from Newark and put some chicken in the oven, so while I wait to pick over chicken bones I’ll quickly pick over this little gem from the Democrat’s Facebook page:

While the other party seems to be ripping each other up and imploding, Belmar Democrats stay strong in our support for Councilwoman Jennifer Nicolay’s reelection. (Completely ridiculous. Unfortunately there is one rogue elephant who’s decided to go against nearly everyone in his party and offer his blind support to the mayor.  With the exception of maybe one or two people, the Republicans who know Tom Burke are against Tom Burke. One problem I’ve seen from the few trips out that I’ve taken is that not enough Republicans know Tom Burke. I almost wish he had raised more money so his views would be better known. But to say that the Republicans are ripping themselves up and imploding because of Tom Burke would be like saying the Democrats are ripping themselves up and imploding because of Joy DeSanctis, (who is a registered Democrat.)  Actually it is the Democrats who are ripping themselves up and not only because of Ken Pringle’s criticisms and lawsuits. I’ve spoken to dozens of loyal Democrats that are completely embarrassed by the behavior of this mayor and his Council and feel that with his dissembling, trickery and mean spirited attacks on folks who disagree with him that he is ruining the reputation of the Democratic party in this town.) To continue progress and our community’s positive approach to everything Belmar, VOTE FOR JEN ON TUESDAY! (Not a positive approach to everything Belmar, just a positive approach to everything Matt.)
This Mayor and Council have been fiscally responsible (budget has gone up every year), have not raised taxes in five years and are working towards the sixth year of no tax increase (tripling debt, looting beach utility) while maintaining services (things are falling apart) and bringing in more businesses (that because of redevelopment, don’t pay taxes.). The NO people in town who are threatening huge problems in Belmar just do not know how to run a small town government. (Borrow borrow borrow spend spend spend)  VOTE YES TO REBUILD TAYLOR PAVILION ON TUESDAY to complete our Sandy recovery and bring our community’s iconic gathering place back on 5th Ave. boardwalk. (And after we’ve “recovered” from Sandy, how do we recover from all this debt?)

Chicken almost done.  Talk to you all later.

Who will rid us of this meddlesome mayor? Unfortunately there are three more years ahead of his dishonest dealings. Remedy at hand is to elect Dave onto the council to question and raise issues for scrutiny. How many untruths are necessary until it is too late for this lovely Borough to be saved from over development and over the top taxes? The current council members are hopeless puppets who are sold on the propaganda spun by the mayor. The Borough Administrator has little or no credibility. The BDC will not recognize and admit that untruths are lies. There are some righteous residents who have attempted to set things right who are spurned as obstructionists. Are you mad enough to not take it any more? Dave, may the righteous force be with you.

When I think of Mrs Nicolay, I think of Ed Koch’s statement about voting – “If you agree with me 75% of the time, vote for me. If you agree with me 100% of the time, see a psychiatrist.”

I’m not saying Mrs Nicolay is a mental case. I’m saying she doesn’t understand issues in depth and therefore has become nothing but a rubber stamp to any idea Matt puts forward. Enough of that. We need a thoughtful person like Dave on the council.

#2 Tom that is so true. A number of years ago the owner of the company had this guy come in and gave all the sales guys and gals tests, we had to answer questions and lots of multiple choice. It turned out 99% were just like the owner, that is not good we were told. He gave us scenarios to do and then out sales went up20%. Like thinking is not always healthy.
