The last picture above of Mayor Doherty addressing an audience, holding out his arm, next to an American flag, is politics at its best. Imagine him saying something like this: “My fellow Americans, I promise you a chicken in every pot (even if you are vegetarian), redevelopment projects on every spec of land that would hold it; I care about you, feel your pain … blah, blah, blah.”
Alas, gone will be the good old days when the family and I would walk over to Strollos on a hot summer night, order our ices, take our seats and gaze out toward the Shark River, anticipating the fishing boats moving toward the Ocean in the early evening. That was lovely, small town living. Now what will we have with this ambitious mayor but a mini-urban- what, village? No, an overdeveloped area that has lost its charm. Someone replace this meddlesome mayor. Please.

What, you don’t like the charm of Edison?
How about some of these in Belmar?
