Why during this Pandemic can’t Belmar be smart and sell badges online? It makes more sense than having people stand so close together for hours on the boardwalk!!

Belmar has been selling beach badges online for months. Where have you been?
Way not satisfied with the towns attempts to protect its residents.
It is all about publicity and money. Belmar’s identity depends upon being a hotspot. Hmmm…think about it.
I was very disappointed when I saw where the line for badges was so long and the person giving out the ticket had his mask under his chin and no gloves on. Where was the 6′ distance. Also the summer is going to be horrific where the rentals won’t be going home on Sunday because of working at home means they could say ” no need to go home so we can party all week”. Think about it, police force be ready.

The real hot spots we need to worry about are Mayfair and belmar inn, I know the belmar inn already has 6 confirmed cases, I’m not sure about Mayfair, but those places can start a real problem in our town. Went by the inn today because I live on 11th and all people hanging on porches no masks, same with the crew hanging outside Mayfair. And I’m sure there is no cleaning or safety measures there
That pic in NY times is fake news. Definitely edited. Look how close the light poles are. And you can’t see Essex and Sussex that clear from Taylor. They definitely edited it to squeeze the depth in dramatically to make it look more crowded than it was.
The picture angle is exaggerating, but between 9-11am there was limited attempts at social distancing and way out of control.

I was in line on saturday.. People were practicing social distancing yes. Most people were 6 feet apart in the line
Some were in masks some were not, masks are also “recommended” not required…
The photos are very exagerated. Depending on what lense you use you are able to deceive the viewers..
But my biggest questions is why is this always come down to out of towners being out of control?
Let’s take sunday for instance..
The town provided township vehicles for a “birthday parade” for a 70 year old man! Let me as this…is this a way of spending tax payer money?
Or what about all of the locals who not only drove by this 70 year old man’s spectacular waterfront “home/nightclub” but all of the people lined up together along the route, along the lake…wearing no masks but also not maintaining a safe distance…
while i am at it..what about these locals and open containers? Not the to go containers from local watering holes but beer bottles

NBC ran a story on Belmar seasonal rentals today 5/18 on the 6pm nightly news. It featured mostly realtors who said seasonal rentals are soaring now after many cancellations a few weeks back. A Belmar resident expressed concern about young group renters not following social distancing guidelines. We all know they won’t. Why are group seasonal rentals being allowed when the state is only in phase 1 of the governor’s plan?

It’s the Summer rental Real Estate Associates/Brokers who swear an Oath/Allegiance to protect customers and clients including but not limited to residents, neighbors, the greater good where they accept commissions to place renters. Are the accommodations Covid-19 disinfected, clean, safe dwellings not subject to overcrowding and being Virus incubators? It’s not the Bars you have to worry about Belmar it’s the group rental “timebomb” with unscrupulous owners and their real estate “professionals” that will impact on the family next to each and the trails the dwellers carry with themselves.
#24 unfortunately I do not think the landlords around belmar for the summer rentals care about anything then their own financial success, from summers past and the overcrowding to the condition of most properties that are summer rentals, most are not well kept, doubtful they are spending money this summer let alone voluntarily forfeit the rental season

#30: thank the Belmar Inn neighbors. They were totally against getting rid of the troublesome, dangerous Belmar Inn because, really, who wants to upgrade the neighborhood with million dollar Condos? . They wanted the devil (s) “timebombs” they knew and constantly complained about vs the unknown, probably healthy Taxpaying Condo owners. Can’t imagine how much that disgraceful establishment costs the taxpayers in rent, police, EMS and Fire Departments alone. Count the numbers of calls to PD,DYFS, etc to figure out how big of a mistake those people made.
#31 I’m very aware of that whole situation, sad actually if that group of haters had any sense or brains, perhaps an open mind two years ago that building would have been gone. They have no one to blame but themselves for adding to the problems of the neighborhood. But I guess like you said perfectly they were quoted to say they would rather the devil they knew……they thought the garage and two many parking accommodations would be a disturbance with the ‘beep’ of a car remote click…..they got what they wanted though so now they feel empowered, to the detriment of all of us though this corona virus is very real and we all need to be careful.
I agree with Bad Judgement and Anonymous those few nasty haters (the minority) only got their way because they stood up and were heard to the detriment of Belmar. If back then if those who I believe were the majority, who wanted that place to go away got off their duffs including yours truly, and stood up and were heard to counter the nasty haters the outcome would have been different and positive to Belmar. So now we have the Belmar Inn and the disgraceful summer rentals across the street in fact that whole A block as a blight on Belmar. So those who kept quiet also got what they deserve.
People need to stay home if they are nervous. or don’t come into town if they are worried. sounds an awful lot like most of this hate towards opening up and getting people back to work has to do with some political losers from the last election in town. Hey DEMS, you lost! Stop trying to take advantage of the situation politically. Its about time someone calls you out on your BS. You are all full of it!

In regard to the Belmar Inn and all other complaints on here ,It’s simple BELMAR needs to Enforce the laws we have or simply get rid of all of them!
Commissions on short term rentals and rentals in general SUCK – you have to do a lot of them to make $$$$.. split if you don’t have both sides of deal, minus fees, and your broker’s piece.. if a realtor is getting rich on them, they are doing a lot of work. Love how people are bashing working people for working for a living.
Craig’s list free postings, yes free, for summer rentals which are often times not shown by agent to customer/clients for a walk through at a dump rental scoring a 10% commission from renter or landlord…a joke? Responsibilities to clients/customers/neighbors?
