Sorry, I have no clue yet to answer survey. Agree with the person that said a staffing survey, I guess a needs assessment would be required first. Would think Lake Como would have to provide that to any municipality interested in an agreement for police services. Maybe that has already been done and is available. If it does outsource so many services already, perhaps it should be looking to being absorbed by another town.
1. Does anyone know what the Lake Como shortfall of their police budget is?
2. I don’t believe we should submit a bid.
3. It should be taken to referendum because it will have major tax, safety and quality of life implications for the residents of Belmar.
4. When Belmar police write a ticket in Lake Como, which town receives the money?
5. I believe this will have a bigger negative impact than Taylor Pavilion.
Matt and Colleen are clueless when it comes to sound business decisions. Seriously, what kind of idiot gives away beach revenue? It was not his money to give!
Thank you Brian. And let’s not forget a salary of 100k costs the town 150k(medical prem.,pension payments, time off, training, equipment and so on).Now is NOT THE TIME to be adding additional salaries to out budget. Does anyone know our present Police complement and why Matt just added two positions? Getting a chuckle out of those in the poll estimating a fee to charge Lake Como. Must be Matt and crew. This IS NOT E-BAY. Show me the numbers Matt on how you are coming up with your fee and I will challenge them. Where’s the Police Staffing Survey?????????(an in-depth evaluation of what it should cost to safely and efficiently cover Lake Como)
2014 Belmar PD salaries total $1,754,327
Remember, this DOES NOT include overtime or specials. You would be absolutely shocked if you were to OPRA request the gross total of what each police officer in Belmar made in 2014. When you see 2 superior officers driving around together you just sit back and scratch your head.
Hey Dave. Can you post Lake Como’s Police Chief Fred Hope’s harrowing letter addressed to the residents of Lake Como. It is found on Lake Como’s site, on their Bulletin Board entitled Open letter to the Residents. Read this my fellow taxpayers’ of Belmar, this will be the NEW norm when you need a Police Officer at your home for an emergency. Call 911 and maybe Matt will respond as a back-up. Horrors.
#10 I am sure that that money doesn’t include the 50 or 60 grand that was spent on the brand new black pickup truck that has absolutely no Belmar Police lettering on it, and that only Drew Huissman can drive. Also What else is funny is how Drew can take the truck home everyday and lives out of town. The whole town is criminal.

DCA and, of course, League of Municipalities will be consulted, NO?
That’s just pensionable salary 5. Doesn’t include overtime, health contributions, pension contributions, etc – or, operational expenses like patrol cars, repairs, dispatch…
Did I say something smart? I need a DRINK to wake up BAYBAY!Q!???

A referendum is needed.

#1. Judy. Please take tis on. For the past year and a half, the Bills paid List has excluded the police payroll, all payroll. So why is that?

2Belmar police officers retired. Replaced very quickly. 1 before they retired 1 after. Shortly both times.
