Dems sue, Burke runs
There are two stories on the web this morning that would be of interest to the readers of these pages. First is a report on More Monmouth Musings that the state Democratic party has sued to have all the challenge affidavits from the 2014 Belmar election voided, citing a prohibition on challenging votes based on the method of voting (in this case the D’Jais method.) It is my understanding that many of the challenged ballots were cast by people who the Board of Elections determined were not legally Belmar residents. I don’t see how those votes can be reinstated but we’ll see what happens. I spoke to Jim Bean this morning and he said that even though the suit was filed over a month ago none of the challengers named in the suit had been served yet, which is kind of strange. He will be releasing a statement which I will publish here as soon as I receive it but I can tell you he didn’t seem like he was losing any sleep over it.
The other news is a Coast Star report that Tom Burke, after being asked to resign from the Belmar Republican Committee by all the other members of the committee, has announced that he is going to run in the Republican primary for the council race this year. I am officially announcing that I will be supporting any candidate opposing him in that primary because I don’t consider Tom Burke to be a serious person.
Burke used to be one of this administrations harshest critics, even going so far as to propose creating a local ethics commission to examine the AshBritt affair and other matters. But it seems last fall he came down with a case of amnesia and forgot all that. He is now one of the administrations biggest supporters and is “honored” to be appointed to the Planning Board and the Pedestrian Safety Committee by the same mayor he once considered to be so ethically challenged. Burke also used to constantly praise this blog and was for a long time a top commenter. Now he continuously bashes me and my blog (and by extension its readers) on his Facebook page.
I haven’t changed. Common Sense for Belmar hasn’t changed. Right and wrong hasn’t changed and the way our town is being run hasn’t changed . Tom Burke has changed.
I feel very strongly that Belmar needs to elect someone new to the Council this fall. But it needs to elect a watch dog for the people, not a lap dog for the mayor.

Let’s see if you changed your mind about anything Mr. Schneck. Just last week you felt you should have censored my previous post. I though censorship was a violation of “liberty”.
I would hope you have changed your mind about some things you said in 2011. For instance you said ” I would be highly sceptic or of anything the Environmental Protection Agency has to say on the subject, given its history of politically motivated findings on issues ranging from global warming to second hand smoke”. Based on this I infer that you don’t trust the science on the dangers of second hand smoke. Please correct me if I’m wrong. If I am not wrong than correct yourself for being one of the dumbest individuals in our town.
I said I would censor your vulgar language.
And here is the source of you would like to read more of mr schneck’s “brilliant” ideas
http://www.lwvnj.org/VotersService/Candidate%20Questionnaire%202011/District30.pdf
Please follow the link. There’s some pretty good stuff there.
Censorship is censorship. What you consider vulgar other consider a form of expression. You didn’t censor when someone made threats yet you feel language is ok to repress?
No one ever made threats here.
And please answer my question. Do you currently believe that second hand smoke is harmful to your health. Yes or no?
http://news.heartland.org/newspaper-article/1998/09/01/federal-court-rejects-epa-secondhand-smoke-study
I’m sure it’s not good but the government shouldn’t lie about it.
If the BOE determined that the “D’Jais”, I mean challenged, votes weren’t legal Belmar residents, wouldn’t that change the outcome of the election?
Most of them were legal so it wouldn’t change the mayoral race. However there might have been enough bad ones to affect the race for the open council seat, which was very close.
10 Admin you are correct sir! If you look at the physical counts not the mail ins or others there are more loyal no matter what democratic voters. 99.9 % of the comments are correct but you cant change a loyal parties support it is too emotional even though they might agree with the opposition.
More than a few of the Djais method votes are not legit.
Belmar should vote by 4-5, districts and this way Djais can only throw the vote in one district,Pringle should guide us on the way to change the form of voting.
I would declare the entire election null and void. If fraud is proven to exists how can you be sure you’ve found it all?
*in my world that is.
Why is a bar allowed to sway elections? I’m boycotting DJais as of today. Stop mucking up Belmar elections!
Belmar needs an immediate change to election rules so this nonsense cannot continue
Please note that the political affiliation of the above commenter is unknown and that he or she is only speaking for himself or herself. This is not an announcement of a “Republican Boycott”
“I am officially announcing that I will be supporting any candidate opposing him in that primary because I don’t consider Tom Burke to be a serious person.” Any candidate? Really Dave? What if the person opposing him was a felon, communist, or otherwise bad guy or gal? Putting your personal grudge ahead of what’s best for Belmar? Is this Common Sense? It’s dumb statements like that which cause you to lose any credibility. I know it’s your blog and if you don’t like it leave, blah, blah, blah. Dumb statement on how you will vote regardless.
1) I don’t think the regular Belmar Republican organization will run a felon or communist, but I will tell you under no circumstance would I ever vote for Tom Burke because I would only vote for someone who has principles and who I can trust to stick to them.
2) I have never said it’s my blog and if you don’t like it leave.
Personally, I have researched voter fraud by partisans both Dems and Republicans over the past many years, including the 2014.
Personally I listened to Burke go on and on about Dems voting who were ineligible due to domicile and how often he reported them to Freehold.
Burke hasn’t changed, he is more a hypocrite than ever. If he really stood for principles he would have reported Republican voter fraud as well.
It appears to me that these personal attacks on T. Burke are out of fear of the man as an opponent. There is nothing hypocritical about being “honored” with an appointment to a board or commission that an individual feels will help the town, county, state, etc. one cares about.
Burke is a little child that wants any attention even negative. He could not represent the interests of an ant hill. He is a cry baby, liar, flip-flopping confused hypocrite, and incapable of recognizing constructive criticism. He whines about everything, and is just boring. He cannot speak publicly as he is incapable of responding in a professional manner on any topic. His campaign platform will be vote for me I’ve been hurt.
With so many loyal democrats voting for anyone. The Republicans could have Superman run, he will lose!!
Party loyalty, do or die, right or wrong, what’s up with that? Pay me (off) and I’ll vote for you? Time to change the form of government in town – throw the bums out and start over. Unfortunately Batman does not like politics, way too corrupt.
Who seat is up this year for council?
Jennifer
I am a lifelong Democrat, since Admin was curious about my affiliation.
No matter what political party, who could approve of a bar using sneaking methods to try to sway an election.
David Snecknis a lunatic who doesn’t think second hand smoke is harmful because the EPA said it was. He is probably wearing a tinfoil helmet right now to keep the government from reading his thoughts. He is a man who lets his political views and conspiracy theories skew scientific consensus and common sense. he also blocks comments when he doesn’t like them. A sign of an insecure child who cannot handle the embarrassment of being wrong.
I block vulgar language.
Not really-you never blocked Mr. Creamer’s use of a vulgar word…….beginning with the letter “a”with his remark about the parade, and his refernce to the middle finger in a comment about rules for going to the microphone at a council meeting-are the blocks only for those who oppose your thinking ?….you let Mr. Creamer slide….
They weren’t things i would have said but it’s not the same as calling someone a male genital. I also let those go the first few times but decided to not let that person continue to use it in every comment.
Than why couldn’t I argue my rebuttal roy your comment regarding the lawsuit agents the 1993 EPA paper. That lawsuit was filed by the tobacco companies and later thrown out on an appeal in 2002. But since you already have your mind made up about how you feel about a government agency you choose not believe scientific consensus.
I feel your readers should understand your lack of common sense or basic reasoning when you express the garbage you post on this blog.
Second hand smoke is bad for your health.
Contrails are not real.
Man did really land on the moon.
And in a town as small as belmar there is not some grand plot by a bar to swing an election with write in ballots.
I have no obligation to debate you on any subject you wish to bring up. But I do publish what you say.
Vulgar-
Lacking sophistication or good taste; unrefined.
If that is the case this entire blog should be shut down
I’m sorry if I don’t want references to genitals made as part of your arguments.
I have been away for a while. If you know what I mean?I see nothing has changed…
If you hold up your hand, ignore the thumb, which is not a finger, strictly, then fold down the two middle fingers, the two remaining, upright fingers are the sign for “I love you.” I love this blog.
You are a joke schneck. You never censored the user who offered Claire
by using here last name in a vulgar way but when I do it to you it suddely becomes inappropriate. That is the definition of hypocrisy.
I just hope your readers start to see you for the insecure little fraud that you are.
That comment was on Asbury Park press. They allowed it. I wouldn’t publish it and only provided a link to show what the APP allowed. Get your facts straight.
Glad to see you’re back, Don Vito….leave the gun…..take the cannolis……
Admin-Why would you provide a link to a comment that would disrepsect my name so blatantly? To let your readers know what the APP allows? To make your blog seem less egregious? I don’t know of anyone else who would do that….your reasoning is weak..and given what you’ve allowed people to post about me, I doubt your intentions.. -vulgar comments aside, you’ve allowed horrible comments ( and posted some yourself) in an attempt to besmirch the reputations of people (with no proof)-just supposition and innuendo-in my opinion, you’ve crossed the line many times..hints that people are dishonest…..hints that people don’t have legitimate jobs..hints that people aren’t reliable…remarks that I’m a weak person and can’t stand criticism…no respect for the families of those in government…posting names of children of those in government in a sarcastic manner-as I’ve stated so many times …you don’t know what’s going on in the lives of people-nor do you seem to care.. you never think twice about posting harsh, unkind, thoughtless remarks-I know……the freedom of speech argument……but at times wouldn’t you think, Mr. Schneck, about what is correct on a humanitarian level? A moral level? You’ve hurt people (with your words) who have lots going on in their lives ..I know this from people you’ve besmirched on your blog.they’ve told me so…but you never stop to think about these things..only wishing to flaunt your own self-importance..maybe you need to learn more about how to deliver factual information and not false innuendoes….editorialzing is good…..opinion-writing is good-but not without facts to back up your ideas…NOW you’re considering censorship? Really??
Claire, that was like a year ago….and everything i put up here is backed by facts. That’s why I’m hated so much by certain people. They don’t want the facts made public. Your mis-characterization of what I’m doing here is what is not factual.
Schneck Stinks: You sound like a certain Doherty bootlicker who ‘reads’ a lot, selectively. Purely emotional with little fact-checking. Maybe you are just having a bad day. Try “Belmar Views.” Its content will suit you better. Boring!
“Bootlicker” hmmm I guess I’ll let that one pass.
Claire:
You have lost the argument. PERIOD
There is an old saying, “the truth hurts” Now I am not stating that what is written by Dave Schneck on this blog is the truth, but I know Dave cares more about that then just entertaining us.
Save your remarks about elected and appointed officials for the days of our nation’s beginnings. Dave is keeping alive a tradition in our Republic. In your recent newsletter ( yes, I read it ) quoting political science 101, Dave is totally supporting your premise of politics being “the non-violent resolution of differences”. Your attacks as with the attacks by differing views is that non-violent exchange to which you subscribe.
Last year was my 65th birthday, I decided that I wanted to spend it with
the nicest guy and his wife in town.
To say that Dave is not a humanitarian
is a lie. This Humanitarian chose him over everyone in town to share his birthday with. You woman, are way out of line
Ted, I never knew you felt that way.
There was a religious order of monks whose members could only speak once a year on their birthday. One of the monks got up and said on his birthday, “I don’t like the food here.” The next year, another monk got up and said, “I rather like the food here.” The next year, a third monk got up and said, I’m leaving the order. I can’t stand all this bickering.”
Ted-I’m glad you spent your 65th birthday with Dave……I’m 72-my grandchildren made me a birthday cake…….what does this have to do with the issues at hand? Glad you’re loyal to Dave-sounds like a great friendship-but did you read my enitre commentary? Offensive remarks about individuals and their families are OK with you? Using children’s names in a sarcastic way is OK with you? Besmirching people’s names and reputations are OK with you-making claims about people’s employment is OK with you? At times Dave gives just a whiff of an unkind thought about someone….just enough to get people thinking negatively about whatever-don’t take my word for it-go back and check past and recent blogs….Dave can be self-righteous, but I think I struck a nerve with both of you……if you don’t want to check, I’ll be happy to go back and reference each and every blog posting/commentary not based on fact….you ,man, need to get a grip….
Also, there were times when Dave’s postings were so off base that he had to retract them……..this has happened more than once……facts? I don’t think so…
On the rare occasion I get something wrong I will correct it. Can you give me an example?
don’t you people have anything to do?
Good one, Mr. Dilberger.
Claire, you are a good Democrat soldier, but why don’t you move on to something constructive, like getting the Mayor and Council to mind their ps and qs. You were a teacher, teach ’em about ethics.
Claire, I too wonder what your thoughts are on the votes challenged in the last election. Specifically Samuel D. Kaye, who left after Sandy with no intentions of returning?
Yes Claire:
I did read your entire REHASH of a commentary. “loyal to Dave”, see that’s where you are so full of it. Dave makes mistakes ( I cannot think of many) but he is human, he is smart and he is truly witty. He has a beautiful and exceptional wife, two great daughters. Dave pays his taxes, votes in every election and spends his free time giving us food for thought. I have enjoyed almost every minute I have been with him. Your negativity is like telling someone “you couldn’t possibly like that monster”, ” let me tell you what he is really like”. Your sarcasm about my well -deserved birthday celebration underscores your nastiness. I shared the story because it is all about a humanities teacher choosing who to celebrate with. The ONLY PERSON ACTING SELF-RIGHTEOUS RIGHT NOW IS YOU!!!!
Claire, why don’t you just sue like all the others. I will be more than happy to be Dave’s character witness.
Admin-Yes- you had to back off when you and others made false claims about the Mayor’s employment….not too long ago….you went right ahead and posted all of that investigation stuff-without really knowing the situation…
Actually he started working there a few weeks AFTER I reported that they never heard of him.
Ted-You sound very upset and angry-sorry about that-sarcasm isn’t the word to describe our birthday exchange-my point is ….what does this have to do with the matter at hand? It’s great that Dave is a friend to you-I’m happy for you..no doubt he has a lovely wife and daughters….and I’m sure Dave is a good-living man..(I just think he gets carried away with words/postings that are based on supposition)-again, what does this have to do with anything? I have a fantastic husband, two wonderful adult children, and three beautiful grandchildren. I’m just offering my opinions on how oft times remarks are posted that hurt people. Again, what do these remarks about family have to do with the price of milk? I’m not criticizing his family….as has been done to families on his blog… Funny how you never responded to my questions….calm down and be ready for my researching this blog to back up my views..
“…so full of it.” I would like to expand on that, as much as I enjoy not-nice language at times, but out of respect for all, I will restrain myself. As I recall, somewhere along the line of the occasional bickering, someone said, “Saint Claire, pray for us.” I think that may have been an allusion to self-righteousness, although Claire took it as a compliment. Madame is grasping desperately at straws to defend the mayor and discredit Dave while closely policing this blog for perceived infractions of propriety. Exposing the truth about this administration’s tactics is for the common good. No one is being maligned. Why so defensive?
Thanks for remembering I was called a Saint-Love it! Who wouldn’t take it as a compliment? Not grasping at straws-however, why would you accept unproven statements about others? Exposing the truth?? Not defensive-just giving facts…Dave discredits himself-I don’t have to do it….how is it common good when he hints of improprities with no backup? Why use such a title as you do? Who are you? If you’re for all that’s good about Belmar-the common good as you so phrase it-why don’t you proudly stand up and use your actual name? Apparently, you’re dubious about me knowing who you are-or you’d use your real name…….common good?? Give me a break! Common good isn’t slamming people unjustifiably…….common good is getting the two families back after Sandy-common good is providing programs for adults and children alike….common good is looking into safety measures…common good is knowing what residents are in need of assistance…..common good is supporting all of our excellent clubs, groups and organizations….
Claire, if this blog was as you describe it I wouldn’t have hundreds of readers and nearly a thousand hits a day on average.
Cathi-I’d love to answer your question in person-so we can discuss this-see you in church or at scripture class….see? I really am a saint! Claire
The name exemplifies the concept of irony. I would not delight in being called a saint if I knew in my heart that I am “full of it,” and I don’t mean cannoli. But then, I do not do “public relations” where painting someone in holy colors is beneficial.
I am drained. Everyone has a different version of what is right and what is wrong in this town. Some of the newer residents in the town have no idea of what is going on now let alone the history and politics. Some questions from my end why were the gift cards given to some and not others? That could build a lot of animosity on both sides if I must use that term. How can a 1 mile square town develop the debt we have? These are only 2 questions that should be cleared up immediately. Maybe the behavior of our guests should be under correction of some sort next. Just those 3 thoughts seem a little more important than some of the problems that we have. Every town has some problems but we seem to have a larger proportion. I hope I am around to see the resolution of some of them so the year round people do not have to sell and move all though that seems to be the trend.
Despicable Me-Get a sense of humor! I’m joking-most people see my supposed Sainthood for what it is-I’m having fun with you! I believe you’re pursuing this because you were the one who called me Saint Claire way-back-when….my family and I had a good laugh about it at time, and when it was referenced again in this commentary I couldn’t resist….I’m amazed that I have to explain the humor aspect to you…..most people see this for what it is…..HUMOR!! You take yourself too seriously…..have fun-I’m thinking about how I can put a positive twist on the phrase…….”full of it…” relax and enjoy life….you’ll feel better about yourself….
I guess I can stop praying to Saint Jude now. Thanks, Claire. I love you.
Clara Petacci (Musollini’s girlfriend,) Clair deLune (Claude Debussy’s materpiece for piano), Claire Trevor (actress), Clare Danes (actress),Eau Clair,Wisconsin, St.Claire of Belmar-perfect together!
Despicable Me and Ms Perspicacity-the same commenter?? Me thinks this is correct!! Like me, or dislike…..which is it?? Let’s meet for coffee and talk out things-I offered this invitation with the person who uses Ms Perspicacity, (but now uses Despicable Me….), but I never got an RSVP….lives in the south end of town??
Ms Perspicacity is still around and has made no attempt to disguise her writing style, such as it is. You have passed the test as a detective, however, I will stay anonymous still. I am rude for not RSVPing, but c’est la vie. Sorry, but I am not she in the south end of town. I don’t want that person to be thought ill of unjustly. Complimenti!
Schneck is providing a very valuable public service with this blog. It shines a light on the dark machinations of politics in this tiny town.
Some people need to stop fawning about themselves and focus on the issues. This blog covers serious issues. Deal with them and put the personal stuff aside.
