The astro turf looks much nicer than grass. And it’s use cuts down on use of noisy lawn machines.

DJais is toxic to the town.

How about a resolution to ban anymore bars.
And to require old hotels to get fire sprinklers. This will save lives.

And a resolution to preserve more green spaces…and create more gardens. Belmar needs places to sit outside and admire flowers.

And how about a resolution to stop people from putting out huge amounts of garbage out well before pickup…walking on Sunday morning saw so many bags piled up all over town

And resolution to get crossing guards on ocean Ave in summer.

And resolution to make library larger. It would encourage families to live here.

And resolution to build dedicated senior community bldg to hold activities, classes and serve lunch. Seniors would benefit from this. And make it law that no loud music is allowed within a block of the senior residence building.

And resolution to ensure that ICE may not enter the school bldg.

And resolution to provide more educational and cultural trips for school kids and more technology too

The level of loud music being played on the weekend at La Dolce vita,is unprecedented. This place is turning into a north end nightclub.Screaming dj on an amplified microphone.

Josh Vallario, please show up and speak so people know what you stand for, hopefully not for some of the crap being pushed through at this meeting. Business as usual with the crew in charge is abominable.

How about that “Democrats preferred” yard sale this past weekend? Why advertise on facebook on the Belmar Democrats page and not in the Coast Star, which would reach more people?

The surrounding residents ” LA doncha eat there” had few if any objections to any expansion, zoning, liquor licensing via Belmar current administration!

    Feisty,
An idea to create more gardens is to put a tourist tax on businesses. I brought this up years ago after visiting Niagara falls. I asked how they were able to create such magnificent gardens and they said every business had a small percent on their bill that contributes to the beauty. Hotels ,restaurants ,and thriving tourist attractions all give back to the beautification of the community. Just think with all the drinking that takes place how much money Belmar would get to make the town outstanding!

Hey Feisty Belmar Elementary is EXACTLY where ICE should be it’s filled with “no comprende Ingles” and as far as green spaces where were you when we were fighting for Maclearie Park? Anonymous have you ever heard of the SID, try running this past businesses that pay SID and get no benefit. Oh my God where is Brendan Reed!

La Dolce Vita is a huge asset to Belmar, and its owners not only run a great establishment but truly care about the well being of Belmar. They have consistently invested in those buildings year after year since they have opened. No stake in this establishment for me, but please dont drive this one good business out of town, we need them.

#3 – you make a great point! The candidates running for council never show up at meetings until they are elected. Doesn’t make sense to me at all. And the ones that previously served do not go to meetings after they have stepped down. Why is that?

If LA dolce vita was a “good business” it would not be blasting loud music. Doubt it’s neighbors are living the good life (la dolce vita) having to listen to that

#11 Even certain die-hard Matt supporters rarely make appearances now. Ones that made me want to gag while listening to their praises of the mayor and council. Where is Gene Murray, who said he would be comfortable having a certain councilwoman look at his tax returns or social security number, don’t remember his exact quote. Could be that racketeering charges that some are facing is a turnoff. No one wants to back up people of questionable character, in my opinion. Makes themselves look like dubious dumbos.

Hi Bill Straus! What can’t you believe ?Someone giving an opinion?or idea? The SID is a fee paid every year by the owner of the building or the business. The tax I was referring to is a percentage on every bill spent at the business.say it is 1% ,of total .designated specifically to gardens. It was just an idea but no worries many good ideas don’t come to fruition so this discussion becomes irrelevant . I will never understand when good ideas work in other places why copying them is a bad idea.

#18 I would rather have all dead flowers but zero drunks. It has become dangerous, for older folks such as myself, to go for a walk in the evening. I can’t fight my way out of a paper bag and the cops are to busy directing traffic in front and around D’Jais.

Yes, walkers have rights too. Get the crowds of bar, restaurant, ice cream shop patrons off the sidewalks so pedestrians can use the sidewalks. And go in and ask for the manager and inform them they need to keep sidewalks clear

I was only responding positively to Feisty about gardens and suggesting a solution. There are answers to all our problems you just need cooperation from the entire community, both sides.Beautiful thriving towns usually are on the same economic page. Belmar has million dollar homes mixed with summer rentals and winter illegals filling our school. The Democratic Party has ruled for years so a simple start is to change our form of government so it’s more balanced therefor representing the entire town .even having a rep from each district would be a start. But you need a leader or an energized person to start that and unite a small town the way it should be.
