I thought the “State” Transportation Trust Fund was bankrupt.
I thought the gas tax had to be raised because our bridges were falling down.
Here is a 2015 ad from Forward NJ, for whom Maggie Moran was a spokeswoman. The address of Forward NJ, as listed on their website, is 608-612 Cookman Ave., Unit 5, Asbury Park NJ, 07712, same address as Kivvit.
So why is $350,000 going to Belmar for repairs to “various streets” and hundreds of millions going to over 500 other municipalities? Did they tell us that millions was going to porked out every year? No.
Apparently all the “dangerous” bridges have been repaired. I think they need to reduce or rescind the tax at this point since it’s pretty obvious they are taking too much.

Great! …. fix the electric safety hazards on Main Street and the crumbling avenue in front of my house
Well guess I won’t be walking over bridges anytime soon.
More opportunities for graft.
The roads in Belmar are a mess. The main reason is because contractors aren’t forced to properly repair roadways that they’ve torn up to install their utilities. Sometimes they’ve ripped the same area in front houses clear across the streets repeatedly opening the hole, closing, repeat but no authority makes them level the roadways, etc. The result is ground up macadam/asphalt with resulting holes, ditches and unsafe conditions.
