Nice folks, I am sorry to see them close.
Waves really good food and the Chef and staff were so attentive when needed. Hope their new place is close and has more parking. Parking is such a drag in Belmar.
Parking is not near as bad as in Asbury! And those poorly lit meters you must locate if you do find a spot. Somtimes I just go elsewhere.
Running any business is tough especially the Restaurant Business. Unless you have a compelling signature dish, and are consistent in serving quality food, superior service, and a sparkling clean rest room you are doomed to fail.
Operating a restaurant in a town saturated with eateries is difficult. Especially with the new competition of 9th Ave Pier and The Marine Grill. It appears many of the small local restaurants are suffering.
They always say location, location location. This is the third restaurant in this location that has failed. Besides the first, I never ventured there as a TripAdvisor senior reviewer based on the repeated low scores for service by other TripAdvisor senior reviewers of Matisse and the Waves.
Matisse’s last reviews were so bad, it would have been impossible to continue.
Consider comparing with Cracker Barrel in Shark River Hills. Tony Wall of “Matisse” fame is in charge. When he was at the 13th Avenue Pavilion and across the Street next to Playland everyone loved their food. It’s truly location, location location in Belmar uless you are open at 2am for the drunk and run crowd.
This resterant didn’t fail. I don’t think the landlord renewed their lease because they have other plans.Waves had good reviews so hopefully they can relocate close by to continue their success!
Brazilian Steak House?
This landlord has a history of riffs with tenants in that location.
Already forgotten …. I would remember if the name was ‘Rip-Currents On Main’
Is it a corporate entity?
#11 Yeah, the shrimp drowned in the sauce. Is that a tasteless comment?
