So beautiful. A well thought out plan for a property in need of redevelopment. I hope that the town approves this project, it seems silly not to.

Gee … Gov Murphy says NJ will have 50% renewable energy by 2030 … not in Belmar … no solar on this proposal, the pavilions or any of the redevelopment projects … just another energy pig

#1 Do you recognize M.B.Hearn’s work on the Belmar Inn project ? A very similar style, don’t you think? or does M.B.Hearn have a twin with opposite design style?

I am extremely proud of this project and I feel that it is one of the most important projects our town has seen in years. I am more than willing to meet with neighbors, business owners or just concerned Belmar residents to review the plans in detail. My email is wmerkler@downtoearthlandscaping.com. I hope that you share in my vision of the gateway plan of our community and that you will support it. Thank you

It it my understanding that this zoning was changed over the years and variances have been granted. To those who are claiming greed: on who’s part? Who is being greedy here? The lot is over 15000 square feet. What should be built here? Just across the street there are garden apartment style condos, behind them a larger section of townhomes. This will improve the neighborhood and beautify the north end.

How about donating your own properties people? According to the essence coming clearly through some comments, all the people who invested in Jersey Shore beach communities his the 1940’s building huge homes/multi-touch dwellings should have been exposed to the lash for their greedy motivation. Ridiculous, reach for success.

The guy with the attorney owns the home behind the WH on 2nd. His home would not exist without a variance that was given to previous owner to subdivide. Some long time residents were not happy about that. He does not live in town. He rents it out. He does not have the town’s interest at heart. This project will boost his property value and the value of the property of the people sharing the same attorney, who are also strictly part time. Who is being greedy here?

#12 agree. I am submitting a OPRA request today at town hall to see if he has received the proper inspections for a weekly rental on his house. I live across the street and have never seen an inspection, but I see a different crowd there every week??How dare these people who live here for two months in the summer and a guy who rents his house out weekly tell the Belmar residents what they demand of our town.

Why would people who expect guaranteed unobstructed ocean views buy property behind an almost 130 year old building that is operating as a seasonal boarding house? They moved from their summer townhome a block in on 2nd to behind the WH.. they should have gone all the way an purchased oceanfront. It was almost guaranteed that the WH would eventually be purchased and knocked down.it was on the market for 5 years..

Seems to simple and obvious but seems like if you want an un-obstructed ocean views you should buy a home on Ocean Avenue. There are no guarantees in life, but seems like the best bet. I over heard a comment at the meeting of a neighbor complaining that a view to the inlet would be obstructed by this because she can look out a window and look through a neighbors window and see the inlet and this project may prevent that. So if your neighbor closes their shades your “waterview” is obstructed too? Sounds more like a peeping tom then a water view property. At some point this is unreasonable to think thats a waterview property

I drove around this area today to see what all the “noise” was about. This current boarding house is a mess and an eyesore, and all the neighbors with actual houses, are surrounded by unattractive brick Apartment buildings and nicer townhomes, I don’t understand why neighbors would be upset with this boarding home property being upgraded, it would seem to make their block much nicer. How about making it 55 and older housing?….no kids in the schools and would probably fill a void in Belmar.
