There was an incident a few weeks ago at Taylor pavilion that has been brought to my attention by two different readers now on separate occasions. The image below is from a copy of the police report on it.
One of the persons who contacted me told me that Ms. Connolly was told by the police not to enter the building and not to touch the alarm and that she did so anyway. Both people who reached out to me were adamant that only the fire department is authorized to turn off a fire alarm. Do any of you have any more information about what happened and whether any laws were broken?

Fire alarm is supposed to trigger the water sprinkler system. Did the sprinklers work?
Just because the alarm went off doesn’t mean the sprinklers should have triggered. The alarm goes to a central station where the local FD only is supposed to reset the system. She Connolly should NOT be resetting a fire alarm system. She has zero jurisdiction. The heads should have been covered with cones that are usually used while work is being done on a premise with a fire suppression system. She should keep her hands to herself and that’s the LAW….each sprinkler head is rated for different temperatures for activation. You’d have to see what the State code is for public assembly rating.
Fire alarm does not activate the sprinkler system. When heat reaches a sprinkler head at a certain degree then a head will be activated.
Sonny Nardone, does Colleen Connolly have the right, the authority and the knowledge to reset a fire alarm or is that the responsibility of a fire official?
No. Fire alarms should only be reset by fire dep’t.
She’s an insurance liability and is an EXPERT as indicated by her Central Jersey JIF position.
Jack of all trades, Hats galore and Master of none. Porta potties Placer is her only real qualification.
I find it odd that she finds herself that important that she felt the need to rush to Taylor Pavilion and take this matter into her own hands. Does she also go out on fire calls?
To follow up on #3, when the head is activated it triggers a waterflow sensor on the pipe that would be tied into the alarm system.
Typically the alarm can only be disabled by fire department or in some instances police. If I own a store and my monitored fire alarm goes off and I turn it off prior to FD arrival I’d be in trouble.
#7 She has nothing else to do
I heard about this incident a couple weeks ago when it happened. Connolly stormed over to the PD and chastised the officer for trying to politically smear her, whatever that means. Of course Chief Housman did nothing, he didn’t want to jeopardize his overtime check. Connolly way overstepped her authority and was 100% wrong. As usual.
Ms Connolly should be fired and sent back to Avon
Of course she broke the law…when doesn’t she? No one will ever stand up to her and tell her she is wrong. Instead the police cover for her when she breaks state laws by resetting and disabling the fire alarm.
Scary to think about all of the power one person has, and even scarier that eventually she will be completely in charge of all of the finances for the Borough when she becomes CFO…buckle up Belmar residents, you are about to have one hell of a scary ride.
This is the arrogance of these people Tim o’donnell Who worked for Belmar for over fifty years yes 50 got fired by a letter not management had nothing to do with the phoney excuse of stands being down (still down)his sin was talking to mike Campbell when his grandson was let go as a badge checker he has trained all the lifeguards for the past 20 plus years no thank you just a letter don’t come back
To bad the mayor moved on and left
the dregs behind. We deserve
better.
#14 Gee who voted them in? Other dregs?
I dont understand why anyone in this town gives Mike Campbell any credibility. He went to the same school of social etiquette as Colleen Connolly. They are both rude, obnoxious and full of themselves. Campbell has Napoleon complex to boot.
Wolves in sheep’s cloths fail in the long run!

I don’t think that is applicable. I believe there is a potential fine that can be levied at the discretion of the fire department.
Police report in her Human Resource file.
This is totally off topic, but i have to say that the last few times I was in boro hall, I witnessed the staff being “spoken” to by other higher ranking employees with such disrespect. It really was disgusting to see how they’re treated. Guess it’s not just the residents who get trampled over.
It seems to me Ms Connolly is an angry, unhappy woman. I really feel sorry for her.
I think Ms Connolly suffers from an Al Haig complex!
#21 Yes but they get paid #22 I feel sorry for taxpayers of Belmar
#23: That’s so very funny. At least Al Haig had credentials and last but not least Brian is no Ronald Reagan.
Hey Sonny Nardone, weren’t you the town fire marshal years ago?
#4 asked you a legitimate question. Do you know the answer? Why crickets?
If everyone knows how destructive Colleen is and that if her lips are moving she is lying why is she still in the position she has? Why should we let our town be in turmoil over this? What are we as residents able to do?
#27 Good question. A petition maybe?
A demand at a council meeting? I think the candidate that vows to get rid of her has my vote and hundreds of others.
She’s not a team builder so that probably why Kivvies don’t want her onboard.
#7-Yes she does go on fire calls. Not sure why since she’s not a firefighter and just gets in the way.
#24-Just because the employees get paid doesn’t mean they should be treated poorly. I get what you’re saying, but I really felt for those women when I saw the mistreatment.
From what I’ve been told, the only employees who get any respect from Colleen are Mike Campbell and Chief Huisman. I’ve also heard that if Colleen isn’t gone soon, several employees will start looking for new jobs, which is a shame because they’ve all (with the exception of 2) been so helpful and friendly any time I’ve been there.
Mutiny on the Belmar, New series on PSA.
So like everything else she will get away with doing wrong…what will become of this? What are we going to do as a town to finally put an end to this insanity?! Anyone?
#26 Yes I was Fire Marshall Retired in 2005 I did answer but somehow it came up anonymous. I’m really not on this sight alot
Thank you Sonny.
#7-32
The outcome will be bigger and badder.
