Vote NO to the administration spending $4,1 Million Dollars on the contraction of the 5th Avenue Pavilion. Pass the word. Wake the town and tell the people
I would prefer the following wording on the ballot:
Shall an ordinance that allows the Borough of Belmar spend $532.47 a square Foot for a building bond that will be reimbursed by FEMA and insurance in the amount of $252.415 per Square Foot.
Yes
No
Shall Belmar be Allowed by the voters to Spend 532.37 per square foot for a construction bond for 5th Avenue Pavilion Vote NO.
Disclose to the voters and your accountants: FEMA anticipated reimbursement, if construction is performed precicely to their criteria, is ONLY $252. per square foot.
The newest attack dog enlistee “Republican” candidate Tom Burke who promised to refrain from political attacks, once again goes after
Schneck and the “handful” of vote No folks in Belmar. Despite the obvious:
Pavilion Plans, FEMA reimbursement, engineering cost all the same as 2014, he would have us believed that ” the situation has changed in a year.” Not one documented proof of that. Who is promoting confusion?
There should be a law that council cannot reintroduce a resolution voted down by the taxpayers unless it changes substantially or a period of 3 years or more has passed.
the 5 story garage vision is at Kleins? Retail 1st floor, residential 2nd floor and then, 3 floors of Municipal Parking AUTHORITY spaces. Keep in mind “Authority” positions are appointed and like the NY/NJ PORT AUTHORITY, the are appointed lifetime, unelected sweetheart, patronage jobs for life.
Yesterday Tom Burke wrote something that I read in other postings and letters that this opposition to the pavilions has been going on for 3 years.
I have had several parrots. They will repeat anything. They can not think and cannot do math. The mayors parrots illustrate this fact. Subtract3 from 2015. You will get 2012. So the man who does not mislead, will have you believe that we have been fighting the pavilions since August 2012. Sure Tom.
Okay I’ve about had it with all the confusion. Workshop better have available the “Alternate Project Plans” submitted by Belmar to FEMA that asks for approval of the combined reimbursements for the 5 lost buildings to be directed to rebuilding one pavilion. Hot off the FEMA website, reimbursement will be at 75 percent not 90.
We cannot afford to rebuild and owe one cent in debt. Have you noticed your tax bill start doing the math residents it’s getting scary.
If a FEMA representative is not available everything is subject to Matt’s interpretation. Again it’s his fifth funding plan. And just to clarify Brian, you DO NOT have to rebuild within the footprint under a FEMA Alternative Project Plan. In those cases the rebuilt structure can be larger. The plans MUST BE PROVIDED. Giving a heads up here.
Further it is unknown how we can break CAFRA law to rebuild. Matt bring in a CAFRA rep also. We are not going to buy into your propaganda about funding. Show us the money.
I too read Candidate Burke’s remarks today. He certainly did not like my use of square foot price. “Confusion now added by now going into cost per square foot for the building…” The Building Industry uses cost per square foot for construction, planners and most importantly FEMA. Belmar Taylor FEMA project worksheet used an acceptable model to calculate by the SQUARE FOOT the cost to rebuild existing as well as new Taylor. The problem with the Council is they don’t take the time to look things over. Many residents and people opposing the amount for Taylor are builders.
They are not deaf just ethically corrupt. I am not saying they are taking money, they are trying to rig things so their favorite vendors and supporters get the jobs. This is not a government for all of the residents of Belmar it is a give back to those who gave to us.
These officials don’t like certain numbers. Most of us remember the $1,401,657.55 in change orders for the $6559440. boardwalk. Many of remember Calabrese stating at the meeting that the design was in the original. So, despite State Contract 20% limit on change orders, the spin machine led by Birdsall V.P.McFadden went out. Till he was indicted and the company went bust weeks later. Trust who?
Well, it seems there’s a meeting this coming week if they don’t cancel at the last minute as usual. Maybe we’ll get some straight up answers to questions of money for a change. Hopefully, Matt will want this put on the November ballot as a question rather than cost the town another $17K like he did last time.
DO NOT EXPECT ANY ANSWERS from council members TO QUESTIONS REGARDING the following 5th Avenue PAVILION reconstruction:
Current Proforma statements, specifications and/or drawings, and theor viewing location by the public and contractors;
CAFRA requirements post Sandy,
FEMA post construction criteria,
Plans for post 75% reimbursement from Sandy

I thought at last meeting they said next meeting wasn’t until September. Did this change?
VOTE NO!

If Belmar voters approve this bond…..
IT’S OVER JOHNNY. More expensive and unnecessary projects are on their way.

What’s next? A multi-level parking garage somewhere in the parking lot of the former Acme?

The pavilions will not pass the environmental inspection required by FEMA to release funds if built outside of CAFRA.
