Hopefully this passes! Grand Victorian’s manager brings up good points. This can benefit many.
Send all djs people to Grand Victoria in Spring Lake, Love to see it. The djs are coming, the djs are coming.
Tell that to the people that live by D’jais.
What a conniving troll this mayor is, one who has ignored his own constituency who live around the problematic D’Jais bar. He has been at the wheel since the first 2 month extension was granted after Sandy and continues to orchestrate the movement to permanently extend the licensing period. All of this effort is being performed under the guise of increased employment? Does D’Jais have their liquor order in at their distributor yet?
#4 – he looks like a troll. what’s up with the facial hair? preparing to go incognito?
News 12 failed to mention that the sponsors of the bill are not from Monmouth County and many of which received campaign donations from one of the beneficiaries of this legislation.
Jim Keady has a brighter political future than this idiot.
#4 – I can see the person behind the glass as Matt stands in a lineup saying, [That’s him, I’d know him anywhere].
Office of the Governor
609-292-6000
OPPOSE EXTENSION OF SEASONAL LIQUOR LICENSES!
He can run but he can’t hide. Hide the gold at the end of the rainbow.
#3 – D’Jais has been in operation for over 38 years. Everyone knows that for the past 38 years that establishment has attracted the same drunken clientele. You wouldn’t buy a house near a busy highway if you wanted peace and quiet.
Don’t buy a house near a legendary nightclub and expect it to be any different than what it is.
More drunks, more police overtime = happy Belmar police, and unhappy residents.
#11 seasonal means seasonal, not whenever Frank wants to get a taste of the parade money.
To bad Channel 12 didn’t interview the residents of Belmar who will be beset by puking, urination, screaming, trash ruined properties and FU Tony roaming the streets of Belmar from afternoon to 3AM March 5th and weekends thereafter, if the Seasonal Liquor Licenses are given a GIFT by the GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY. Where is Bob Engle when you need him on the Soprano State. Do you believe Christie will approve increasing the Seasonal Liquor Licenses by two months just out of the goodness of his heart. Sad that the residents of Belmar will now have to give up Optimum and switch to Verizon because it’s obvious that the Optimum subscribers are not important to their financial bottom line let alone both sides of every story. They didn’t interview the Mayor of Sea Girt did they. We’re they bamboozled too?
#11, #3 here. Just wanted to let you know that I’ve been here longer than D’jais. Not everyone in the south end just moved in within the last 10 years. The bar is a cesspool and no mayor would take a side on this. Don’t you ever wonder why this mayor takes a side on everything ? Example, the pavilion votes. Any other mayor would have just said “let the people decide”. Not this mayor. He sent out mailers and such just to get people to vote his way. Nuts !
yes #11 ….great argument on tax appeals I would say
The only reason this bill has potential to pass is because of the tremendous support from locals! I’m a local resident and I support it 100%.
#17 Paid to play! Locals? Not!
In the summer there is a lot of loud late night screaming on the boardwalk. Horrible idea to have more bars open on parade day. Too much chaos and screaming already
AirBnb: Bad advertising.
#11 I’ve been here a lot longer than D’Jais! With your logic, D’Jais shouldn’t be able to operate a nightclub in what was once a nice family neighborhood for years! Not to mention their license is specific to Bar and Grill not nightclub. Actually Belmar ordinance prohibits nightclubs…so maybe us older times should have expected the borough to uphold the laws when we purchased in town!
Start the petition, midnight closing of bars in residential areas.
#22 Excellent idea..shut bars in residential areas at midnight. Hard to sleep when drunks are screaming outside and groups outside are laughing loudly.
Does dj have any safety violation? Does it get over crowded? This crazy bar does not belong in a residential area
22, 23: The idiots just get liquored?up at home because they found out its cheaper. That behavior then created the $20. Cover charge for the 12 o’clock close people.
12 o’clock for all bars stat it up . See Matt we do have option to your turning this into Bar run town.
OK …. property owners bought their houses with their eyes wide open …. that doesn’t mean they must endure the D’Jais nuisance for 2 additional months …. enough is enough.
Many newer property owners bought and improved their properties at a time when Ken Pringle was cleaning up Belmar with a great future in the making. It’s a shame that the sham man, mcdirty trickster, are leading us back down to honky-tonk ville where you party and puke or you get a Uber to then go home to your quiet neighboring towns. Emphasis on boring. We like boring now. It’s good for the soul.
#27 – Boring is the new fun.
PTSD is what we suffer here in Belmar when we realize our elected leaders are out for themselves and not their constituents.
Apocryphal example: A certain nightclub is totally prepping for the St. PATRICK’S PARADE day festivities, including but not limited to supplies (enough booze to float boats) and dated novelties to sell. The nightmare ends when you wake up after the fitful sleep and say to yourself it’s just a a bad dream. The Archangels know more about the Governor’s plans on giving the yes or Vetoing the extension of the seasonal liquor licenses. The seasonal liquor licenses don’t know in advance what the Governor’s leaning are to bet on ordering booze without a license, etc., right? Another apocryphal example: resident voters get complimentary rooms at Harrah’s to get out of Belmar Sunday 3.5.17 because they have faith in the influence the nightclub owners have with the government. Nightmares begin again
I want to say this is dead and buried because employees of D’jais have awfully quiet on Facebook the past few days in regards to this bill. I know there is only so much one can push but I guess D’jais is fighting the inevitable and this bill will not get passed…
but then again, i could be wrong
Question… if the Gov signs this bill doesn’t the town then need to have a council meeting to enact an ordinance to extend the liquor license ? My guess is yes. That would mean an emergency meeting just to appease D’jais. More BS.
#31 State law supersedes any municipal ordinance!
Wouldn’t the Belmar Code Enforcement Department, Monmouth County Board of Health and our “New Fire Official” have to perform a Legal Safety Inspection of djs in order to open AFTER the Governor’s execution or death knell of A1850? Or, did anyone (who, when, where and how) schedule Monmouth County Board of Health, Belmar Code Enforcement and Fire Inspections for the advertised pre-parade breakfast?
Djais for whatever reason will not be open Sunday
#32…. not sure about that. The governing body acts as the local ABC. I believe in this case the state law (if the gov signs) gives the seasonal licensee the ability to open early. The governing body can still stop the establishment from opening if they feel it may create a nuisance or for a multitude of other reasons.
You mean the local ABC (council) could ever in anyone’s right mind deprive the nightclub on Ocean Ave?
Governor Christie introduces D’Jais to his good friend VETO!!
#17 if your are really a local then you are a local loser
#11 Dummy.
#11 DJais was originally a locals beach bar famous for live music. Then those three chumps came in 79′ completely changing the format to a club with a rowdy tourist crowd.
#11 Residents purchased in that area under premise that DJs was seasonal in nature with opening in May as per NJ state law for seasonal establishment
#11 many residents have been there for generations even before this place was a glimmer in Dominick Joseph DiSalvo’s eye
#11 D’jais is not a nightclub. Its the furthest thing from a nightclub. Nightclubs open…at night!
Silly rumors have it that the most interesting area of that non-nightclub is that it isn’t open to public anyway because it’s the after hours bacchanalia in the basement area. Talk about undercovers, no cash passed after hours?

BAke would be happy to know someone
remembers his name. He was a good man
and a gentleman at all times. He had
another life besides the one at the
Shore where his attributes were the
same. He rests in peace.
#44 If open in basement after hours wouldn’t there still be lots of cars around? Any night owls notice this?
Belmar is approximately 1 sq mile. YOU Do THE math. Picture has been drawn.
#45 TULIP – this is Bake’s grandson, you could say DJ the third. Glad to know the memory of my Pop is still there!
I know Harry had a son and daughter. I know his daughter use to live in Wall. I don’t know about the son which ever is your parent and it goes back many years tell them Skinny says hello. He
Worked there 18 years and ran a very tight ship. Your gramps used to stand back against the wall when the bar was in the other room and would know from watching what the registers should ring for the night. When they say that bar was the good old days they were right. The money was always wet and they had string hanging in the office to dry the money before they could do the deposit.I remember Muzzy and some of the guys and your Gramma too. It was totally different back in those days.
Nothing like these days. I was there Fri. for the closing party a quick visit Frank and the band were not there and never are for the closing. They are doing the Senior lunch Wed. Which is very nice of them and we like it. It
Has been nice remembering some things
From the old days. Thank you for your
comment.

DJ III for got to address my ramblings
to you.Hope this will fix the error.
#11
DJ’s has been open more than 50 maybe 60 years and was as busy as now but in
A different way.
Frank and his band came into the picture later. They use to rotate bands
And the boss liked him and he was the band from there on. Holme has had a
Good career. All generations are there
To hear them play. Now they own and play
#43 Nightclub- A nightclub, music club or club, is an entertainment venue and bar that usually operates late into the night. A nightclub is generally distinguished from regular bars, pubs or taverns by the inclusion of a stage for live music, one or more dance floor areas and a DJ booth, where a DJ plays recorded music. The upmarket nature of nightclubs can be seen in the inclusion of VIP areas in some nightclubs, for celebrities and their guests. Nightclubs are much more likely than pubs or sports bars to use bouncers to screen prospective clubgoers for entry. Some nightclub bouncers do not admit people with informal clothing or gang apparel as part of a dress code. The busiest nights for a nightclub are Friday and Saturday night. Most clubs or club nights cater to certain music genres, such as house music or hip hop.
