Looking Into Epic Pavilion Contract

I’m not, but apparently somebody out there is.

Flashback: Epic deal stank from the start

You may recall that the “Responsible Bidder” bid rigging attempt set off a legal battle that lasted most of 2014.  Thank you, Coast Star for your terrific reporting in this piece and for your permission to republish it.

Oh but Dave, the problem is a tax increase, don’t you see. Don’t be such a naysayer. There was a landscaper in town that did a bad job, you see, so we needed apprenticeship programs for future workers. “Responsible” bidders as defined by state law just doesn’t cut it.

He was a bad landscaper due to the fact that he was a Republican and also due to the fact that he actually wanted to get paid in a timely fashion.

The new mayor should get rid of the provisions in this responsible bidder ordinance. It stinks of union influence. Matt 2.0 won’t do it though.

In the end that provision was beaten back. But it took a lot of work by a group of highly dedicated people.

I am curious as to why Matt wanted only Union workers. What would he have gotten out of it?

Wait a minute here. Are you tryin to tell me that Matt, with the help of blind loyalists Brian and Jen, tried to change an ordinance in order to give a special advantage to a powerful politically connected construction firm with ties to his wife? That’s crazy.

Next you gonna tell me that Matt went around saying, and writing, that the pavilion projects won’t cost us a dime, that they are free so why is anyone against them? Only to learn that not only are they not free, they were so many corners cut it’s a surprise they’re not round. He wouldn’t do that!

And then you’ll try to tell me that for 8 years Matt and Colleen played so fast and loose with the towns finances that we are over 30 million dollars in debt. And that even after presented with the evidence, Matt claims that it’s actually the new Mayor and council that are responsible for this financial calamity. He would have to be insane.

And then you’ll expect me to believe that Matt’s ego is so large and so fragile that even though he landed a plum crony position for which he is totally unqualified, he is still meddling in Belmar politics by hand picking two vapid puppets that will regurgitate whatever nonsense he pours into their naive minds. Please, no one is that maniacal.
This is just another example of a small group of Belmar citizens trying to smear the reputation of a great, great man.How do I know this? Because Matt told me so.

Just a reminder, Colleen wasn’t around for 8yrs. She came in around the same time as Sandy, and took Bill’s job, didn’t she? Matt had help before her as well.
