The first of many flip-flops.
So our Borough attorney guided Belmar to change the policy ?misinterpreting the state law and the Asbury Park press found the law saying you can allow vets for free? How much did the attorney charge us to switch his mistake back and forth? Shouldn’t our lawyer be the one that knows the law more than the press? Avon makes their own rules and no one cares to challenge them?

I am a Veteran. What is the procedure to get on the Beach? Do I show proof of being a veteran to the gate attendant or do I have to stand in line and get a beach badge at the badge kiosk?
Agreed. Kudos to the mayor and council for making this right.
#6 I’m sure you would just go to beach attendant. Why should you be made to wait on line when you aren’t required to purchase a badge. Perhaps call the borough to inquire
Did the Borough Administrator need to use his NEW take-home car to deliver the discovered information to the Borough Attorney?
the law says-
“A municipality may by ordinance provide that no fees, or reduced fees, shall be charged to: …”
Keyword above is ‘may’ … it doesn’t say ‘must’ or ‘shall’ …

I’m told that a Disabled Veteran during the Memorial Day weekend. Was asked what his disability was. And was refused access to the beach. And now the town is back pedaling to fix it. Even offered him a seasonal badge.
The VA rates service veterans from 10% disabled to 100% disabled. How much disabled did you have to be? 10%, 20%, etc. Just FYI, I am rated 100% disabled.

Badge checkers need to be educated what questions NOT to ask a disabled person otherwise Belmar will be slapped with another lawsuit.

Thanks #8. Where’s Campbells suspension while the council discusses this in Executive Session? I would make a good bet that no minutes contain any discussions of his behavior in Executive Session discussions since he was caught on camera.
In Camera is the answer.
19 – There was 1 council meeting (6/5) since then and there was no Executive Session conducted. I guess the council is blind to the matter.
