Grandfathering? What a mess society has become. If the artificial turf was and remains illegal then it’s ILLEGAL! Can we all build additional stories onto our homes illegally and then plead to the council for “grandfathering”?
All of them had permission from the town when they installed the artificial turf at a cost of thousands.
Less grass equals less fertilizers , weed killers, insecticides, getting into ground water and river/ocean.
#2 – Admin – With all due respect, so says them. It is very clear and proven that public officials do not override the written lawn.
There’s nothing specifically about artificial grass in our code right now.
Belmar Zoning Code has limits on impervious cover.
The artificial grass most of these people are using is pervious.
Ridiculous to even argue against!
Turf =
No fertilizers
No lawn mowers
No edgers
No weeds
No weed wackers
No noise
No gas
Zero maintenance
Always green
…and it is installed the same way as brick pavers like driveways and patios. If you outlaw turf, then outlaw brick pavers!!!
If i wasn’t planning to move next year i think I would get it. It’s kind of funny that by bringing it to everyone’s attention I think more people than before are going to want it.
I love the turf lawns…always green and cheerful.
Ordinance needed to outlaw grass killing vomit, urine and the fight club’s blood in Belmar.
Is vomit considered pervious?
Plastic bags, artificial turf…! The whole town is a mess and these are the things the governing body worry about ?!!!
Maybe ask Campbell why the hell he uses a municipal vehicle to go get a workout in ? Last I heard that wouldn’t be considered official duty.
#13 – Look at it this way. As long as the guy is out of town fooling around, he’s not getting underfoot getting in the way of the working men.
Pervious artificial turf is a manufacturer’s claim without specifications.
I’m more worried about our towns 37 MILLION dollar debt.
Katrina, anything to obviate the DONKEY in the room. Of course, it’s the 37 MILLION DOLLARS we all owe.
Can you imagine the lenders taking into account the actual debt load we really have in getting resident loans?
I’m worried about running out of aspirins
When the government starts paying your property taxes, then and only then should they tell you how to decorate your house. They should however have the right to regulate appearance of some of the new unusually taxed buildings going up in Belmar because they are in some way getting subsidized by the Belmar tax payers.
These public workshops are nothing more that scripted dog and pony shows orchestrated by those in power to divert the attention of the public from more important issues. Don’t be mislead. Follow the money…. Matt seems to.
Astroturf Republicans… They’re the problem per Reddit.
If artificial turf is a property improvement that cost “thousands” …. then it should be taxed as such.
Does homeowners insurance cover astroturf?
#22 NO….Fake Grass saves on pollution more so than the verbal diarrhea from the politicians.
Tired of the Fescue Green artificial turf?
Try the Rutgers Red or NY Giants Blue.
I think the RED would be nice. Didn’t go to college but went to work.
