Beach Utility Suit Wrapped Up Today

“We have to build the pavilion before we can find out who is going to pay for it.”

Sound familiar?

More information will be coming tomorrow when I will have had a chance to speak to more of the folks who attended both days of the hearing, but from what I understand Borough Administrator Connolly testified that she will figure out the allocation of the cost of the pavilion only after it’s been built and we receive all the reimbursements we might be expecting.  Could takes years before we know for sure.  She stated further that she will follow the guidance set down by Judge Lawson last year about what the correct proportions should be.  (She only vaguely remembers the Mayor maybe saying something about it being free to the taxpayers, but in any case it was only the mayor’s opinion.)

Some numbers:

For the plaintiffs, 6 witnesses, 90 documents admitted to evidence.

For the defense, 1 witness (Ms. Connolly). and dozen or so documents.

I hope to have the transcript of her testimony by this weekend.

According to last week’s Coast Star 2015 candidate info …. “…Councilwoman Nicolay said she is focused on providing residents with all of the facts regarding the rebuilding of the Taylor Pavilion… ”
This voter would prefer those facts before election day.

#1.Jennifer can make all the promises she wants. I am still going by Connolly’s sworn testimony to Mr. Neff
May 2014-re:funding for pavilions. I quotes:
Neff: There is some portion of costs at the end of the day that will be borne by Belmar, either through the beach utility ( beach goers ) or through just general..through the general budget? ( taxpayers)
    Ms. Connolly: Absolutely.

What is it about hearing (repeatedly) that it’s not going to cost the TAXPAYERS anything?

    TAXPAYERS are just that, TAXPAYERS.

Where does FEMA MONEY come from?
Where does insurance money come from? Where does Grant money come from? In short, your own pockets. Who pays the piper? You do darling.

What I got the biggest kick out of, regarding Colleen Connolly’s testimony was the difference, the incongruent statements, her claims of protecting the residents while her personal pronouns were always, my mayor, my professionals, my team. I am sure the judge heard that also. We all discovered that “our” is not in Ms. Connolly’s vocabulary.

Actually she said “my administration “. When that raised eyebrows by everyone in the court and Ken Pringle said “your administration?” She giggled and said “oh I meant my team”
    Freudian slip?
