#1 that attachment from the Brennam (how it’s spelled on the flier) campaign only lists the amount of money ‘saved’ by not raising taxes in seven years. It doesn’t make any mention of how or by what means the taxes didn’t increase in that time.
We have to vote for someone folks. Vote for Bean for a watchdog on the dais and if you want to continue to expose the rotten politics of Doherty. Or vote for McK and Carv if you like what’s been happening and you want to continue to expose the rotten politics of Doherty. Or vote for McB and Russo if you’re not at all disturbed by two people with no discernible ability, and who appear to be rather gullible, and if you want the exposure of the rotten politics of Doherty to be swept under the rug.
Make a choice and pull the lever.

  6. #2 – Agree – I think the current administration really did walk into a big pile! Some changes have been made and will continue to be made. Hard to undo 7-8 years of underhanded trickery in less than a year. Lord knows the Democratic candidates don’t have a clue – they will just wait for their next directive from Geppetto.

Dave- thank you for reposting that. I recommend everyone check it out. Not so much for the voting records (that is interesting) but for the comments. There is a back and forth between Claire and Joy. It’s pretty fascinating to read. Claire is doing her ‘I’m an innocent in all this’ thing and Joy is pointing out Claire’s hypocrisy and her inability to admit when she’s made a mistake. The old post also brings back the feeling of abject horror a lot of us (not Claire for some incomprehensible reason) felt when Matt was running this town like it was his own personal campaign war chest/name recognition marketing machine/social media promotional tool. It reminds us all the dangers of having that narcissistic megalomaniac get his greedy fingers back into the till.
What ever you feel about Jim or McK or Carv, do not give Doherty a chance to get inside information about the ongoing investigations into his crimes.

#24 Claire- You actually just proved my point. You were doing it then and your’re doing it now. Ignoring the truth isn’t the same as owning up to the truth. I have no doubt that you have people that come up to you and compliment you on your work as a council person. There are people in this town that still compliment Matt for being a great mayor. I am never surprised by the actions of those that disregard the truth in order to avoid the painful self realizations that would accompany such honest introspection. It’s a lot easier to lie to yourself. Human nature. Besides, you did many great things for this town through your civic work. Unfortunately, part of your time as a council person was marred by your blind support of an obvious crook. It’s the avoidance of owning up to that critical mistake that I’m referring to.
And you should know that I have worked for many years on my self awareness and the emotional difficulty it takes to admit mistakes. Not only to myself but also to those I love. And that work (it is work) has made my deeply happy. So thanks for the advice but I think it’s time for you to start that process. It is difficult but you will be surprised by the joy it will bring.

Running the Belmar 5 is hard because the police cars are idling. The police say it takes too long to power the electrical equipment inside. But I think if the police suddenly need their cars on they can simply do it.

Case in point: All Spring/summer long a bank owned property across the street from my home has a hired landscaper who tends the weeds/leaves and major Debris on the property 1 x per month. Each month the vehicle driver, on instructions from the tough, swaggering female property manager, leaves their 40 foot truck running in front of my home, often blocking my driveway. Needless to say, I’ve gotten into arguments telling him/her to turn the running motor off their truck for the 1/2 hour they are there. Actually I’ve opened the vehicle’s door and turned off the key one time when they couldn’t hear me, or chose not to, when begging them to turn it off. The last time they were here I told them I was reporting them to the police with the video I was shooting. Each time I verbally forced them to turn off they cursed me up and down, worse than the FU Tony visitors, like it was my fault they were spewing fumes. The actual fault was they have difficulty starting their decrepit truck once it’s turn off. I suppose they felt that I should turn off my ability to breath on an Ocean block in Belmar instead.

Plus, Claire just happens to be the most notable supporter on this blog. I’m curious (not obsessed) mostly because she’ll gladly talk about anything BUT that particular subject. The question in #45 was never answered.
42 claimed the that “many people in town “want to hear about Claire’s opinion about Matt. How many people were there? Who are these individuals?

    #63- to answer your questions.
    1. Yes, according to years of comments on this blog- people would like to know Claire’s opinion of Matt.
    2. Not sure how many but you can read the comments going back a few years and get an approximate head count.
    2. You want names? That’s a little creepy.

So many adverbs. Which is your favorite?

63-Gee, The questions about me on this blog we’re infrequent. Probably mostly you. Creepy to want to have answers? If I met them at some point, per chance, I might ask, “What is it that you wish to know? “. Curious. Another word that is loaded with nastiness….creepy. If they want answers, how is that creepy?

#68. Sorry I don’t understand any of that. It’s a bit rambling. I think you meant ‘were’ not ‘we’re’. As the self appointed spelling/grammar sheriff, it’s weird you made that mistake. By your very own rules, that mistake invalidates your entire argument.
#63 asked ‘who are these individuals?’. That means they want people’s names. I don’t care what you think, that is not only creepy, it’s scary.
Sen Joseph McCarthy also wanted to know ‘who are these individuals’.

70- Aaaahhh I’m sorry. We were looking for an adverb. An adjective describes a noun and an adverb describes a verb. But we have some consolation prizes for you. Thanks for playing. You’ve been great.

71-I know the difference between adverbs and adjectives. No need for an explanation. I prefer an adjective to describe you-absurd.

Well we may never know what you think of Matt Doherty but it appears we know what a majority of the Belmar voters think of him. His lies and schemes and dark north Jersey money lost in the end. All is right in the world. Have a great day.

73-It certainly is a new day! Truth be known, although I’m a dedicated Democrat, have great respect for Mark Walsifer. I got to know him when we both served as board of education members. Mark served for nearly twenty years. Always with the best interest of the students in mind. What dedication! I don’t know Mr. McCracken or Mr. Carvelli. But Mayor Mark is tops! I’m
Proud of our Dem candidates-they worked hard-always with dignity and in an honorable fashion.
Best of luck to you as you improve your language skills as time rolls along!

#74 thank you Claire. Yes, I agree, Mark is a great guy and a terrific mayor. You’re right-the two women candidates certainly worked hard. It’s a shame that they didn’t have anything to say. There’s always next time.
Best of luck to you as well as you also continue to work on language skills with the difference between contractions and past tense verbs. What’s life about if we’re not always improving. This has been both fun and enlightening for me.

Perhaps Claire can start attending Mayor and Council meetings again and give her input on how to make the borough a better place, and bring the two former Dem candidates along as well. I think Jim Bean would do well as a critical and helpful commenter from the audience. Who knows, if done tactfully, there may be some meeting of the minds and possible healing of relationships.
