Belmar has some very tough campaign disclosure requirements.
I don’t know if I support all of this, but the requirement that all reports filed with the state are filed simultaneously with Belmar does make it a little easier to view them. The borough’s campaign disclosure web page is easier to use than the NJ ELEC site.
Borough Clerk April Claudio always puts the reports up on the site as soon as she gets them. Here is what is currently up for 2015:
Let’s have a look at them. We start with “Democrats July 2015 report“:
Click on it to see the full report.
Wow. 8 months after the election there’s still activity. There was a $1000 donation from a Thomas Dubiaha and a $2000 check for signs.
The next link is “Democrats 20 Day Post Election Report June 2015“:
Click on it to see the full report.
Wait a second! We’re going to have to have my friend Ollie read it for us.
Ollie reports that there’s nothing of interest there…just a lot of zeros, which he mentions look the same upside down as right side up.
Let’s move on to the “Independent Candidate Report“, which is mine:
Since there is no campaign, I am not required to submit any other campaign reports.
The last link is “Democrats April 2015 reports“. First one in it is one from Matt’s own campaign:
Click on it to see the full report.
The $500 is from Matt. The $850 was paid to a printer in West New York.
Further down the same link is one from the joint campaign account:
The donations are $500 from Krista Sperber and $2000 from Barry Zimmerman. I don’t see anywhere where it shows who gave the $50.
The expenditure was for T shirts.
And this concludes today’s review of the Democrats’ and Independent’s 2015 campaign filings that were made with the borough. I thought there was a Republican running too, but there doesn’t seem to be anything up there from him.
Have a good weekend.

I don’t know much about politics, I’m am starting now to learn so much. Is there any way to force Mayor Doherty and his party out if wrong doings can be proved against him. He’s making a mess of everything.
Old Man can I please borrow 2 of your aspirins?
#1 It’s called a “RECALL”.
#1 and #3. If you go through the recall
it takes the same number as it does to change the “form” of Belmar government.
I prefer the second making another Matt impossible.
#4 please explain if you change the form of government and the mayor has hand picked candidates that win and on the same side how would that change things. What we need is a law that tightens the ethics and conflict of interests to apply to municipal government as it does for the state government and employees.
#5. One important change could be non-partisan elections and increasing the number of council. This with a form where the mayor is not a councilman would certainly produce different elected representation. We have even tighter ethics for municipalities. The problem is that without a local ethics commission-the Local Finance Board in Trenton will take up to two years to hear the complaint.

Krista Sperber has an extra 500 to donate? That make no sense. There are many residents who could use some help. Isn’t that why the mayor started the fundraiser for Sperber cause she needed financial help. That’s a lot of money to donate for someone accepting donations.
