This whole article makes me so angry. The citizens of Belmar have been duped by Mayor Doherty! Shameful

The BS will never end regarding this issue no matter what the Mayor says to the contrary. This IS Merri-Makers building, to use and do what they want to do with it.

We can review the ordinances that allow them to operate there and make changes. Especially the ones that may allow a “for profit” business to serve alcohol there. However. It all starts with voting in a different Mayor and replacing a few of the council members.

Why do the rules for use of the facility not provide limitations preventing any person or entity from making use of it more than once[or twice?] in any 12 month period? And I suppose if you wanted to exempt civic or charitable entities from the operation of the rule you could. But what rationale permits open ended use particularly by a commercial entity of the property. Ordinarily such a public facility would need to be open for competitive bidding to be used as a profit making location would it not?And usually a commercial entity would need to enter into a lease, just like the small northern end of the building was put out to bid and leased. How did they get our boro attorney to give the ok to this subterfuge?

all the wedding dates have been cherry picked …. the pavilion is still available, at ‘non-profit’ price, to the likes of Menendez, Pallone, Booker, etc.

There is no liquor license. There are preferred venders. The old Taylor was only beer and wine. They changed the ordinance to include spirits.
Another problem is that by ordinance no liquor is allowed on any decking or boardwalk attached to building. So how is Merri Makers including cocktail hour in the back deck as part of package?

We need to tweak the current ordinances and enforce the rules. This will be one of my top three goals if/when I am lucky enough to be elected.

Many, including nonagenarians, will celebrate if/when Brennan loses this election, maybe not at the Merry Maker Pavilion, unless the date is a snowy day in January when no bridal party is celebrating with champagne on the deck. Idea: how about booking that pavilion for a party for Josh if he wins? Invite the folks at Borough Hall.

Josh knows how to “bracket” better than most. Remember he’s the candidate who has real world experience and isn’t afraid to speak, act upon, investigate, pursue and get to the truth before a press event and aftereward too.
