From “Thick Headed”
How much money has Doherty wasted, that is the article to write. He has had 3 defeated plans of the boardwalk, each plan with architectural drawings costing tens of thousands.
1. Public changing rooms with private showers – defeated
2. Rooftop mini golf on 8th ave pav. – defeated
3. 2 story pavilion at Taylor – defeated
4. Total projected defeated at the polls.Honestly Jim Bean deserves a chance to restore Belmar
Residents first, we have had 4 years of outside business owners being first.
Thanks, “Thick Headed”, now I don’t have to write it.

I hate to waste money. Give this guy Bean a chance. As I said before if he does not do well for the people of Belmar kick his butt out also…
Vito, you’re getting soft. If Bean doesn’t do well he’ll be swimming with the fishes.
Let’s not forget about the marina which has come to a roaring halt for unknown reasons. This was a project Doherty handled 100 percent himself. He selectively hand picked the owner (tenant) together (I think) they planned the building design, he drew up (gave away) the lease contract and fees. The residents just saw the plans and then everything stopped. We have lost money due to lack of completion on this valuable asset and as usual have no idea what is happening. We have also lost rental money for slips due to issues with dredging that have not been addressed. There were no petitions preventing any forward action by the mayor or town to start and complete the marina project. Nothing stopped the progression but the mayor’s lack of leadership. There was a lawsuit (the town was named) and some settlement money exchanged hands but the mayor said don’t worry about it someone else was paying. We never care as long as someone else pays. Sometimes that someone is us but he just doesn’t tell us right away.
So here we are the seawall is gone, the marina is out there stagnant. So what has the mayor done besides spend our money and buy an overpriced boardwalk. By the way the DPW with the Borough paying for supplies constructed the boardwalk skirt which was contractually supposed to be done by EPIC.
Mayor Doherty has also tried at least twice to give Djais special zoning for year around license, that is not allowed.
Watch it, guys. Soon Mayor Doherty will feel compelled to push baby Seamus around in his carriage for protection whenever he walks anywhere. Also a nice photo op, by the way. Babies are always nice props.
I should have gone to engineering school. I could have made a bunch of money designing doomed structures for Belmar. I did ok with the Bubba-Gump shrimp venture, though… Hmmm…about that marina? Lt. Dan, you out there?
Yeah, I know, two Rs. Better fix that before someone calls me dumb and thinks I am impersonating myself. (Have a chocolate, Forrest. He looks at one, sniffs it, then puts it back in the box. He is not accepting any anonymous gifts now, not even chocolate.) I may be slow, but I am not stupid.
Listen Admin Shut up and let me handle this guy Bean if he screws up. He knows the five families will be watching him.
Let us not forget the rest room-laundromat that was going to be built in Dough Boy Park
at the end of the marina that wasn’t totally
leased.
