Since when did Tom Brennen’s form of dress become the norm at council meetings? Did they all just get off the golf course?

BA looks more professional then the mayor and council.

Awww so cute of Carvelli’s daddy try to stand up and defend him against those tax increase decisions! Did he have to do that for his other son in Lake Como , or was his brother able to stand up for himself?

Of the lady who took the floor at 1:02-1:18, she held her ground through all the digressions, by council, town attorney, and BA attempting to get her off subject. Nothing they attempted could divert her from her topic – SPENDING CUTS, SPENDING CUTS, SPENDING CUTS. The lady was excellent.

If I know Bean he is requesting the paperwork to find out why the budgeted numbers don’t match what the borough admin told him.

I kind of hope the BA is telling it straight and Bean is looking at the numbers wrong. I don’t want to live through the Doherty years again.

    Yes she handled herself beautifully.
These guys had better start trimming the budget and stop with the platitudes about kicking the can and hits keep coming. Her point was, yes we don’t wanna kick the can and we don’t know what other Doherty horror is coming next. Therefore, we need to cut each dept a little bit. Don’t fire three cops, don’t brag about saving money on furniture, don’t take away the movies on the beach for the kids. Cut The Budget. Sell the unnecessary vehicles, lay off the unnecessary employees (there are a dozen), cap salaries. Show us you really do care M&C. Show is that the pain is shared. Show us that you will make difficult choices to significantly cut the budget. Show us or you are going to have a hard time getting re-elected.

My friend said the town is required to have the guy with the free car keep track of his personal miles. That being back and forth to work each day(example). This is not an average benefit. Then his salary gets “grossed up” and he pays taxes on that benefit. This is for both federal and NJ state taxes. There are formulas for determining value of that benefit. I didn’t know that existed. My friend is smart

When I worked for a nonprofit, the executive director was leased a car as a benefit, and the lease value was taxed as income, added onto his salary, as I recall. Could be that is why the BA’s income was higher than the pay rate. That car should not be considered a freebie, and I doubt that it is.

Daddy saying keep spending although we don’t have it?What part of broke doesn’t he get?Daddy needs to be a councilman too!Maybe when Tom B resigns they have their man. Does anyone know how to curb the spending? Don’t the movies on the beach come out of the Beach utility? The only place there is money? How’s all that spending working to find the guy who ran over 2 people walking home after bar closing? Give everyone a round of drinks,It’s on us!

The BA isn’t even required to give a copy of his cellphone records (borough records only) that you the Belmar taxpayers are paying him $100 a month to use.

I was told there are no public records relating to the monthly allowance given to him for its usage. Belmar taxpayers have been paying it since he was hired. Who allows a $100 a month on one cellphone for shared use?

#17 If he traveled 500 miles each month then he would get $295 on average per month. I’m sure the lease with insurance is much more than that. Is anyone going to opra his worksheet that needs to be approved( by somebody) and included in his check? I can’t I’m just average

Did the town pay to have Mike Campbells town issued SUV lettered with Belmar insignias and fancy red and blue lights? Of course we did. Then why was all the lettering removed? Who authorized it and for what reason? He is not a cop. He doesn’t need an unmarked SUV. Mayor Walsifer, please explain the reasoning for this waste of money and who authorized it.

#23- BEANO??? How appropriate. Full of a lot of smelly gas I assume. Jim Bean is exactly what this town needs to put these new people in order and CUT BUDGETS. Again, I was a staunch anti-Doherty man, but am now very disappointed in these new people. Vote them out until we get this right.

Also, remember the town van that was completely wrapped in Belmar Tourism advertisements? You know, the one Mary Brabazon used to park illegally in front of Federicos. Well, all that lettering has been removed as well. I’m sure that cost taxpayers at least $1500. Can anyone explain why?

#28- The fact that you and others are worried that Dems. will re-gain seats on council just goes to prove that people are NOT happy with these present Reps. And by the way, Dem./Rep./Ind. on local, town levels, do not truly reflect what those parties stand for. Therefore, vote for the right person regardless of their affiliation, and Jim Bean is what is needed.

So #35, using a quick formula of how the town of belmar calculates the value of its assets, I’m going to guess Campbell paid about $17 for the off lease vehicle. That’s just a guess.

I think 23 is worried that Bean will only dilute the votes cast for republican candidates and that a third party candidate only hurts the chances of the party he or she either used to belong to or closely resembles. Think Ross Perot.
Another reason this town should look into partisan free elections.
