In response to Councilman Magovern’s saying that he is not a tree hugger: Brian, please hug a tree; you might learn something. Really.
Enough with the emphasis on ethnicity. Isn’t a parade in March enough?
Stop answering the councils questions when you go to speak at a council meeting!
You owe them no explanation for anything! They represent you! It is not only your right to questions your representation, it’s your duty as a citizen.
They put their names on a ballot not you! Let them ask Colleen and “their” attorney if they questions. The mayor refuses to answer questions he doesn’t like, why should you answer them?!?!?
In 1967, I registered for the vote. I registered Democrat. Forty years later, I moved to Belmar and Registered as a Republican. My thinking was that the minorities were just as bad off , if not worse than when I registered in 1967. That the Democratic Party Elites benefited over their promises to help the less fortunate. Sorry it took 40 years, but I do my homework. Five years after registering Republican, I registered as an Independent. It only took me five years to figure out the stupidity and foolery of the “Republican Elite”. It really doesn’t take a genius to figure out this next election.

Dave, at the recent council meeting you stated there are “like”10 liquor licenses. I believe the actual number of licenses is around 15 if you include the club licenses and brewery. Three of the licenses operate two establishments each. This means that if/when all of the licenses are active there will be a total of 18 establishments serving alcohol in a one square mile town.

Ask Claire Diecke she wants to defend Matt’s integrity. I’m sure there is an non self-serving reason Matt changed the ordinance. We’re just not smart enough to know it. What is it Claire, please explain how this ordinance change benefits Belmar residents.
#11 What you fail to understand and what Mrs. Diecke fails to understand is the concerns expressed by the residents, in the change to the ordinance have nothing to do with Matt, or any council person personally. This ordinance has worked! Changing it now opens up the appearance, not that anyone elected now might or would be influenced, but the appearance of a conflict! Leave the ordinance alone so that appearance doesn’t exist for anyone! Not for Matt, Brian, Jennifer, non of them serving now, or anyone who might serve in the future, regardless of their political party or opinions!

#11-What can you be thinking? Changes in the pay-to-play ordinance benefit everyone-Democrats and Republicans alike. With the most stringent wording removed, candidates of all parties are on an even playing field.Matt and other candidates should be able to on the same level as other candidiates….it’s my understanding that candidates running for office at the county level don’t adhere to any pay-to-play restrictions-what’s the point of your argument? County reps also oversee building and street projects… You have no evidence or proof of what you state…..#12-You’re wrong-this criticism by the opposition is targeted at Matt-make no mistake-everything he’s done has been attacked by the opposition…the person who stated that only the people who support the mayor are assisted and supported..I can provide a list of individuals from the opposition who have been helped by the present and past mayor and council..thankfully this person didn’t boo and yell out from the audience as is her habit.also, The Women’s Caucus erred in their report about Jen Nicolay-yet members of the opposition won’t let it rest…Mike Seebeck-you scolded me for commenting about negativity-last I heard the freedoms stated in the Bill of Rights apply to me as well-I can disagree with your thinking and comments…take, for example, all of the good we tried to accomplish during and after Hurricane Sandy-constant criticism-when we were working our hardest to get residents back on their feet-bash, bash, bash-with your petition drive…this bashing is ongoing-give residents the correct information as you go door-to-door with your petition-with your last petition drive, your representatives gave incorrect information, and some didn’t have the foggiest when answering questions about what you were trying to sell…lastly, my name is spelled Deicke-11 & 12-if you choose to use fake names, at the very least, spell my ACTUAL name correctly-#11-your first sentence makes no sense..also, #11-I’ll give you all of the actions/endeavors of council members that benefit residents…including the pay-to-play-changes leave opportunities for more people (perspective candidates) to show interest in serving the community…

Mrs. Deicke, I apologize for spelling your name incorrectly. There maybe some people who are criticizing the mayor for the changes, but MY opinion is changing any pay to play to open up even an appearance of a conflict is not the right thing to do. As far as a fake name, I used my real name a few times, and I was punished accordingly by the administration, so lesson learned.

Claire no anger at all. Determination lots of it! Shared with many residents, hundreds of them. We are determined not to let the Mayor and Council pervert our pay to play ordinance and are conducting a legal petition to protect and preserve our rights. Very local effort by many wonderful residents. I can see why the change in the pay to play law makes sense to you. Look at the PAC contributions you are taking in to the Belmar Democratic Committee. Let’s face facts Claire in your eyes those anonymous contributors and their interests are the good and the residents who object to those PAC interests are the evil. I didn’t bring up Jen’s contribution issues the Coast Star reporter did a great job covering that. I did happen to come across a very similar contribution to the Belmar Democratic Committee did you return that contribution? Gene Creamers comment is simple and truthful. I did the best I could to work his words into my comment as they are neither offensive nor negative. And as far as leagues I wasn’t referring to myself I was referring to Gene who is one of the most factual, truthful and thoughtful people I know. Your opinion that my comments are shallow and thoughtless makes perfect sense to me. Hope you have a great time at the parade.

There is no credibility in portraying political DISAGREEMENT with NEGATIVITY. There are members of our community like Claire Deicke who repeatedly attempt to make negativity and disagreement as one and the same. This is spin and not honest discourse.
I can safely say that it’s UNAMERICAN. To quote Jonah Goldberg ” Our country, if you read the ‘Federalist Papers’ is about disagreement. It’s about pitting faction against faction, divided government, checks and balances. The hero in American political tradition is the man who stands up to the mob-not the mob itself.” It is time to request that certain individuals voicing their opinions in local political discourse refrain from mischaracterizing political disagreement.

Claire – I am a long time registered Democrat.. I do vote based on issues – not always with party lines. I am ashamed of the Democrats in this town.. I saw multiple fraudulent sample ballots mailed to one address in Belmar – I know where they came from. I know who they are associated with and who gave them the address and encouraged them to register with it. It was blatant.. it was investigated and they got away with it – I will never believe or support this Mayor.. You know damn well that MOST citizens are for the overturn of Citizens United -for you and the mayor to say you want to become “compliant” with SCOTUS decision is ridiculous. There is no need to comply – we must work to overturn and have our elections be for the people, not only for those who can pay.

My point is that opposition members criticized every single action that was taken on behalf of the residents..is it your life’s work to undermine and demean efforts by the town’s leadership? Claire -Sorry – but I witnessed it with my own eyes.. several sample ballots for people who NEVER lived at the address in Belmar- many actually reside in other towns, some other states. The home owner testified with the Monmouth County Prosecutor .. they got away with it- from what I understand, with the help of expensive attorney. The voting laws were changed so that messengers could not deliver so many ballots. Don’t call me a liar. The Mayor does not care about tax payers – it is obvious – he only cares about his own political aspirations.

#54 Disillusioned If you see something like you claim you owe it to yourself and the citizens of Belmar to video or snap pictures and send it to the Acting Attorney Generals office. Making claims that might be true is not helpful without proof, and gives the council’s supporters rebuttals to clog up the blog.

Wow – Claire. My partner has been here over 50 years- YOU are a nasty woman- you will defend blindly what you have no idea about – or pretend to have no idea, which is more like it. Testimony was given – investigators followed the trail to Rincon..they got away with it – so, yes – I fear retribution. Thankfully the people that run this blog continue to fight and WIN in court..
Just a clarification, only one person administrates the blog and the administrator has never been party to any legal actions against the Borough. I have collected petition signatures though.
