This is ridiculous, the “claim” by Partner Engineering includes monies due to Birdsall, attorney fees (theirs not ours, still waiting to hear what we paid our attorney), late payments and interest. Duh, if you wait to be sued guess what you end up with a lawsuit, they can call it a “claim” (it sounds better). And the “claim” will be for more and than what is actually due. Then the settlement amount can be reduced from the inflated amount the plaintiffs (Partner) are asking. We did not save money here. The municipality did not solicit private negotiations they waited to be sued. Now Brian is talking about private negotiations that should be private, yes to a certain extent but the negotiations should be discussed in Executive Session that never happened and at some point presented in a workshop again that did not happen. Come on citizens, there were costs for Sandy but do the damn math what happened after Sandy in Belmar that was so different from every other recovering town. Why do we have these outrageous costs in the first place? Because Belmar went crazy after Sandy period. The mayor and administrator had no knowledge of FEMA or reimbursement by them and thought, party time, they could spend, spend, spend and FEMA would pay. Money was spent unlike anywhere else. Why we are still recovering and Avon is back and not in debt. Why are we such idiots that allow this blatant mismanagement of spending by our blind municipal leaders? Those of you not getting involved in this outrageous spending open your checkbooks because starting very soon your balance is going to be significantly reduced. We owe a lot

We still owe $184,000 add that to the $925,000 and what did we save, nothing. And as far as FEMA, we got everything we are going to get. During the election, the mayor never mentioned this huge amount of money due. According to him, we are sitting pretty in Belmar and basking in the glow of his wonderful recovery efforts. We still have that $1,035,000 due to Maser Engineering for those grandiose pavilion designs where are we getting that money? Just wait things are about to start really happening in Belmar and not for the good. So voters keep reelecting those officials who do not serve us, me I’m out of here.
So your saying that both Matt and Brian aren’t good at Math ??? Shocker
Belmar must be more open about spending and must ensure that documents are not altered after council meetings.
What the town truly needs is an accounting of all money spent due to hurricane and a list of what projects due to hurricane damage still need funding.
Get real. Too much fudging of facts
I still want to know when my buy a board donation will be utilized.
