Good news. It would also be great if they had a moratorium on new multi-story buildings in the Boro, it’s getting out of hand. The town is starting to look and feel like Long Branch.
#1 – I think those multi-story buildings you are referring to were approved by the planning board. Unless I am mistaken, planning and zoning boards are two separate entities.
#1 agreed[no i am not agreeing with myself]
The zoning board has no elected officials serving on it, while the planning board does.
it is very rare that a court will overturn a town’s decision. You get into messing with the rights of the town and property owners.
#2 i do believe you are correct on where the approvals were obtained and i do believe a lot ,if not all, had redevelopment status. In Belmar the two bds are separate by choice since state statute permits them to be combined.#4 again if you have a planning bd then by statute the planning bd MUST have members chosen from certain categories some of whom will be boro officials elected or employed. The question really is do you want to be more like Long Branch or Avon ,Spring Lake etc. I have already expressed my choice but i have been around here a long time. And am I missing your point? Bear in mind the zbd is selected by elected officials.
Speaking of zoning, when are the Belmar Inn condos hearings set to resume?
When a project is in the redevelopment zone it goes to mayor and co, first. Also if anyone reads the judges opinion that was filed you will note the judge isn’t commenting on the project itself, the judge did not rule about development projects their densities, etc.—- this project the zboa voted no all seven members, not one member voted yes. The applicant appealed whether they did anything wrong in coming to the no votes.
New Jersey kept British Colony land use law …
Planning Board = Aristocrats
Zoning Board = Commons
#6 With multiple businesses/restaurants along Ocean Avenue we will NEVER be Spring Lake or Avon (only has 2).. stop dreaming. How about being like Belmar? Each town/city along the shore is unique. We are closer to Bradley Beach than any that you mentioned..
#10 I can’t.We are Belmar, but are you that closed minded ? As a town moves forward don’t you think it is wise to learn from towns that get it right? Obviously we will NEVER be Spring Lake. What an ignorant statement, and hopefully you will NEVER have a position in town that has any influence on our future.Calling yourself a Spinster must give you plenty of time alone to ponder these brilliant comparisons. It’s not just about how many businesses are on Ocean avenue, there is always room for improvement in every town.
#11 – There’s nothing wrong with a “closed mind” or ignorance. How intolerant of you to question “Spinster’s” being alone. I’m sure she wanted to be pict by a man but it just didn’t happen for various reasons.
Careful number 10. I think Tom might be sweet on you.
Common Match.com lol I have just seen the term thrown around here.. decided to use it. I know how much Mr. Dilberger and others in this group respect the opinions of old maids.. true to form, the members here never cease to disappoint with the name calling of others they don’t agree with. How is enjoying the unique flavors of our town and surrounding towns “closed minded”? Kinda boring if they were all the same..
Spinsters are a very misunderstood race of people. They’re found all over the world so their must be something to their culture.
Tom, you silver tongued devil. No wonder the ladies can’t resist the Dil-man

This is a bit off subject but I’d say this young woman has zero chance of becoming a spinster – enjoy.

Tom Cat speaks truth. No one to mess up my litter box! My race would become extinct except for those kitties who like to play rough. Saving my voice box for purring.
