It’s because of you Matt – that the adults in office had to raise taxes- It’s really Fiscal Sanity – paying actual principal with the interest on the debt you and “ Crooked Colleen” raked up in your 7+ Years at the helm – why don’t you go away quietly – better yet just go away

Matt. How many petitions were served to your administration that you ignored and were forced into referendums?
The damage you inflicted on Belmar both fiscally and emotionally will be with us for a long long time. So please forgive me if I ignore your sanctimonious BS.

Don’t dare believe one misleading words written by mcdoody. He mortgaged our lives for decades and totally mismanaged the Sandy reconstruction with lies, fraud and deceptively filed for grants that were denied. Such a despicable individual!
Matt was/is no better or worse than the rest of the people put forward by the uni-party/ Repulicrats to run the town into the ground.
They all have one major common denominator marrying them together, INEXPERIENCE.

Outside of Belmar, thanks to Channel 7 and News12, Matt Doherty is seen as having been a great Mayor of Belmar with great photo-ops. It would look wrong if he were to get out of town.

Shame, sham, sham. You want our new administration of 2yrs to correct all the bad that Howdy Doody did in 7 yrs. Reading what Katrina wrote should be enough to tell you what he did and left us with. Thank you Katrina,you are a great asset to this town because you would not print this unless you had the facts, and you do have the facts.
9-Water/sewer problem seems fixed. Most towns have seen suits more than, or equivalent to Belmar. Seems to go with the territory. We had information that we were to receive the funds from FEMA.m, so basically that wasn’t the fault of the mayor. Policing Lake Como was well-advised from many professional sources. Don’t think there were more than one or two petitions during the entire Doherty administration. There were occasions when you asked questions of council members which had no purpose-and were answered contrary to what you expected because you wanted to prove somethings happened that didn’t happen. So as bad as it seemed to some people, you wanted it to look worse . Once you tried to put a councilwoman in a bad light with wrong information, but her answer totally derailed your purpose.
Mcdoody and staff deviating from FEMA rules knowingly was and is foul. Forcing Belmar residents to file Petitions to put a stop to costly and time consuming shenanigans by Mcdoody was not a simple 1, 2 step dance. Judge Gummer excoriating Mcdoody’s Connolly fall guy was disgraceful to endure. Directing campbell to put a portapottie on a residents property was outrageous. The unconscionable SALT Litigation was calculated to illegally hamstring Belmar Businesses in favor of the other on the Marina Restaurant. The chasing of news media cameras in a Cushman all over town was childish and so embarrassing. I could go on and on but I’ll stop at the purloined or hidden municipal records. Mystery?
Ok so let’s start with water sewer.
This administration fixed that issue Not Matt. He ignored it. Though many over in Rhode Island Point complained constantly. It wasn’t until the new administration that the pumps were repaired. Problem solved but not by Matt. I’m not quite sure of that financial impact.
Next. Lawsuits. I don’t know how common lawsuits are in other towns and I really don’t care. All I know is there were at least 10 here in Belmar, costing the taxpayers in the hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees And Matt LOST all of them.
And Fema. Ok. So. Voters were assured by Matt that bonding 5 million dollars to finance the Taylor wasn’t going to cost us anything. Well. That was another lie.
We’ve been paying on that bond for years adding to our staggering debt load. Saying we were getting the money from Fema was one thing. Actually getting it was his and his BA’s job. Another unfulfilled promise.
Which brings me to petitions. You obviously were not paying to much attention. In no particular order:
1. Trying to build 4 two story buildings on boardwalk. Over 500 signatures of residents wanting a say in what went into them. (which lead to the lawsuit which prevented Matt from designating our boardwalk as blighted and in need of redevelopment, which would have given Matt all the power to enter into redevelopment contracts with NO SAY by the residents.)
2. Bundling the bonding of Lake Como project with the Taylor.
3. Taylor bonding referendum Special election
4. Taylor vote part 2
5. And my personal favorite, special election to prevent our pay to play laws being weakened so Matt could take contributions for his Freeholder run.
I’m sure I missed something. Any one who can clarify or add please do so.
The police deal was just bad for Belmar. And it was under Matt’s watch.
As far as my asking Jennifer Nicoly if she was in violation of campaign finance law, yes. I did ask. I was concerned that she may not have been eligible to vote on some (can’t remember now which) development plan. She said no she wasn’t and that was that.
Next you have to be a little more specific about questions I asked “trying to prove something happened that didn’t happen “. Not sure what “something” your referring to. There were so many things happening it was hard to keep up.
So. My very long winded rebuttal is really just this….
Matt has a lot of nerve writing about how he never had a tax increase. All of our ridiculous debt is directly related to his administration. The financial wreckage he left behind will take years and years to clean up if at all possible. And most of our current tax increases are directly attributed to His actions.
Like I’ve been saying, they’re picked to be leaders based on their all around stupidity. I’m amused by the latest stupidity of hooking up with Asbury Park to process prisoners and now we’re named in a lawsuit (thanks a lot). Yeah, hook up on processing AP prisoners – Yeah, that’s the ticket.

He’s the reason the we are left with utterly impossible tax rate INCREASES that should have been levied each and every year he was mayor. No, he happily choose to mortgage Belmar’s debt so he could say “I am the mane (horses ass) no increase in taxes during my tenure”. A BS Artist, no more!
25-You still love to stir the pot. Self-appointed watch dog. You had to check out if the councilwoman was in violation of campaign finance law?? Really?? Why? Wouldn’t the board of Ed. lawyer ask that question, if necessary? To answer your question-an example of the “something “ that you asked about.

That question I asked Jennifer must have really hit a nerve. Why does that bother you so? I’ve heard many questions asked at council meetings rougher then that. And when Jennifer answered I accepted her as being truthful. I’ve never brought it up again.
#29 The councilwoman referred to was charged with civil rights violations, along with several other council people, as well as the former mayor, in the Harmon lawsuit. That is troubling. Katrina left that off her list.
“Watchdogs” are important to keep elected and appointed officials in check, as well as in private business. Power can swell egos and make some people fearless in their transgressions, which could diminish if someone is watching and asking questions. Sneaky things happen in the dark. Ask any criminal or any child.
31-Demonstrates your desire to put council people in a negative light.
Has anybody seen dopey Magovern? I haven’t seen him around in awhile. I hope he didn’t jump off the bridge.
25-So if this administration fixed the water/sewer issue, why are still bringing it up? It’s done, right? Beating a dead horse. Missed the point-other communities are sued often, as well.
25-Explain why you think the police deal with Lake Como wasn’t a good idea.
25–What is your opinion of the present administration? From what people are posting, there are residents who aren’t happy. But you haven’t offered your opinions about our sitting council members. Just reverberating about the former administration .
16-What experiences do leaders need to run the town? Please explain.
Ladies & gentlemen – As far as asking women (sitting as council members) about the logistics of running a town is ridiculous. Actually, that’s why they’re put on a council by unsavory politicians. For the most part women are nice people and have been duped into all this political baloney by unscrupulous men to take advantage of their natural naivete.

#39 – We must have an equal amount of blue collar men sitting on council or serving as mayor. It’s ridiculous to keep electing people who have no background in private enterprise to positions of power and then wonder why they louse everything up.

40-We had two outstanding councilwomen here in Belmar. Mrs. Provenzano and Mrs. Deicke. Mrs. Provenzano served for several terms. She did a great job serving the residents. So did Mrs. Deicke. She helped a lot during Hurricane Sandy, and seemed active in the town. Both women made good decisions for our community. I think Mrs. Wann will be good too.
Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Women’s Vote. Hijacked by protesters but the light of Women is not diminished in Belmar.

40-Sorry, Tom. I disagree with your comments. I wasn’t put on the council by “unsavory politicians.” I was duly elected by the citizenry of Belmar. And my terms of office weren’t “ridiculous.” I loved serving our residents, and cherish the many interactions with Belmar residents. Also, I’ve never be described as a naive person. I did my level best as councilwoman, and think my efforts were appreciated by the townspeople . I don’t think I was incapable in performing my duties , as you suggest.
40-Why are you demeaning the women who were/are councilwomen here in Belmar? They did a good job for us! As a longtime resident, I’m grateful for their services and dedication.

You must realize how wrong you are in light of our excellent Belmar women Council members. In my opinion they contributed as much to the community, if not more than the councilmen.

49-Why? My husband works in corporate America. Whenever a huge project needs oversight he assigns it to a woman, because all aspects of the project are carried out superbly, with great attention to detail. These assignments are often complicated, requiring intelligent people to see that they get done to perfection. Certainly women can succeed in politics and every other field. Women that I know who have political backgrounds have done fantastic work ..once elected …no matter the level of governance, just I described with my husband’s situations.
I cannot believe that in 2020 we are having this conversation.
#49- Sounds to me like someone is stuck in a different century. What you call “natural naiveté” I would call empathy and communication skills, something men have historically lacked in. As for women on the Belmar council, have we ever seen more than one woman at a time? Based on your logic about councilwomen being manipulated by their male counterparts, how do you expect the only women on the council to consistently have her voice heard? I for one have great faith in the women who have worked tirelessly, both in the public view and behind the scenes, to make Belmar a better place for all.

Three of the brightest, most professional, and astute women in this country, and You dislike them. I’m sorry the Presidents of the US who appointed these women to the highest court in the land didn’t consult with you first. If you happened to be an attorney, I’m sure you would have been considered for the position. Your brightness and open-mindedness would have blown our country’s leadership away! These three women judges have credentials that are amazing and impressive. And guess what? They are on the Supreme Court for life! Here’s how Title 28, Part I, Chapter 21, Section 455 of the U.S. Code reads (emphasis mine): “Any justice, judge, or magistrate judge of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.”
59-“Women shouldn’t hold any position beyond Girl Scout leader.” How about the women in the medical profession who save lives-women who are surgeons? You are beyond belief. Women successfully hold high-ranking positions throughout the world. Your way of thinking is impossible to comprehend. More and more, I think you have to be joking-putting people on. Honor is a foreign word to Mr. Dilberger. To belittle women is far from being honorable. He never understands the whole picture. He lives in his little world of ignorance and lack of understanding. And acts like his opinions carry weight. Boy, he is so mistaken! Most people in Belmar pay him no mind and consider him to be way off course practically and intellectually. But he never seems to get the message. He thinks he’s smart, and always right. Boy, is he wrong!
# 72 – Correct, I shouldn’t have used the word dumb. The word doesn’t fit in its normal sense. Most people are just products of their conditioning and the new manner of living. It makes them seem as if their minds are disordered. Otherwise, they have normal intelligence.

Women and men have different natures and if they stay within those natures things will be alright. It’s when they start moving across those natural lines they’re supposed to exist in problems arise. That’s what we’re seeing today and now we’ve got this giant mess we’re living in now.
