Maser to help? Just don’t drop the bar of soap in front of them while bathing at the 10th Ave. pavilion. I think they’ve violated us enough.
They had to know of the flooding, the paint is bubbling.
Additionally the building’s fire alarms constantly can go off in the summer due to a faulty design of the AC and fire system.
The windows of the concession are ridiculous too. I had to kneel to place my order.
The whole building was a sham.
Who inspected the building?
Walsifer was elected because people we’re tired of the BS. Why the hell does he have such a problem blaming Doherty and crew for all that is wrong with anything in town ?! Start pointing fingers !!!
#4 Agree. If he doesn’t start pointing fingers (or telling it like it is), it is going to cost the Republicans the next election.
#4 I absolutely believe Walsifer will point fingers, but probably is still uncovering the dirty dealings of the former administration. If we truly want them to be held accountable let’s make sure the current administration has all the facts and proof….then let the finger pointing begin along with holding them legally responsible.
Suing Maser for the Como and 10th Ave fiascos would be a good place to start.
I’m with the mayor doesn’t want to point fingers now. But he has no choice. Pointing fingers and fixing the building are completely tied to each other.
Preparing for war takes time, not Willie Nillie, gotcha crap. Build your case first.
You’d have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to know what Doherty and his administration did to Belmar by selling the FREE, no taxes Kool-Aid for 8 yeats to the voters. Shameful.
Absolutely agree with #4 and #5. Walsifer needs to stop playing politician and start telling people who’s responsible for the mess ! The other council members could open up their mouths too. If not, Republican majority will be short lived.
The Republicans have a huge majority on board. They need to put Tommie Boy on the spot, on the record. Note to Tommie: Stop worrying about plastic bags and balloons and put some more thought into figuring out how to get us out of the mess he got us into.
I have to wonder if, since she worked so closely with Colleen, Matt and the council members, what April actually knows. As the boro clerk I’m sure she was aware of a lot of the dirty dealings they did. If so, how could you have a clear conscience?
The mayor should clean house and start with every department head. Their services are no longer needed. Councilman Brennan should be impeached.

#7 admin…concur, i fail to see how they can help in a substantive way now if they did not take the proper action on the outfall line when they were so inept as to allow 600k to get axed.. if they were overseeing construction on 10th it is even worse but in any event they should be looked at by the new people in office as defendants ,not allies. #10, hope even the deaf,dumb and blind can see what happened.#11 we have seen the most recent example of the dems at work so if the repubs are also inept that narrows the choices… Belmartians?[maybe just go back to nonpartisans like in the old days, worked then]

“Everything is fine” carries a lot of weight.
Nicolay and Connolly the Boss proudly wore construction helmets at the event when the Taylor Pavilion was open and presented to the public to visit for the first time. Maybe they inspected it as well.
#13 i totally agree! She definitely knows alot and maybe she should be held accountable as well. Your job cant be that important that you would cover up so many unethical dirty dealings! I know i wouldnt sleep well knowing how the residents were screwed. I think the new administration should take a closer look at her and make sure she isnt a mole for them.
I get that mayor walsifer is cleaning up, but didn’t he vote yes for 2 years on budgets and is now shocked by how bad things are?

Glad it’s getting done, but starting 2 years ago might of helped a little.
I think I remember the former mayor standing at the Belmar podium on the beach smiling from ear to ear, staring longingly into a TV camera and brimming with future political aspirations. He was extolling the virtues that the pavilions would be built the right way with skilled union labor. Also dopey Brian saying the same at a council meeting talking about the importance of the expensive union apprentice program. What a joke.
Is it possible to issue subpoenas to compel former and current employees and elected officials to get them on the record for who knew what / when and who is responsible?
Reading the Coast Star this week I see that Claire Deicke appears to have awoken from her long slumber. She penned a letter to the editor “Reflecting On The Meaning Of The Acronym PARCC” and included her head shot from the Belmar Council days. I wonder if she also spends time “reflecting” on her blind support of the former mayor and council that got into this giant mess. Are Claire and the other breathless supporters still drunk with the “everything is wonderful Kool-Aid” or do they feel used and hoodwinked realizing that they were just “useful idiots”?
#25 I think Madam just wants to feel relevant, speaking through another medium, but still a political junkie, unfortunately. (Never let them see you sweat.)
#22 – Sir/Madam, Nothing could have gotten done two years ago on that Council as it was made up. So, it more or less was a good tactical move by remaining quiet. All that would have come of Mayor Walsifer raising a stink at that time would have been him labeled an angry extremist as they did with Jim Bean.

#22 and #27 … Both of you are correct i do believe. in #22’s scenario there is an element of complicity when no dissent is made. #27 suggests it is better to hold your fire until your support troops are in place or go down in flames. For myself i would rather take a few swings and perhaps get bloodied, otherwise why am i even there? This of course assumes that you dissent.
“Show me the C.O.s for both pavilions!” “Huh? We don’t need no stinkin’ C.O.s.” Wouldn’t such a scenario be interesting?
I OPRAed the 10th Ave CO a year or two ago. At the time they were continually renewing a temporary CO.
#21 not a bad idea to look into former and current employees that worked very closely with the former administration and I say start with the boro clerk and work your way down!
the 10th Avenue Pavilion was somebody’s Bay Watch pipedream … especially the tower.
