Thank Goodness! All is well! The town is saved all thanks to free paper and office equipment. Who knew that was the solution all along. SMH
What a joke! Overtime cuts, lol. Wait till we see how much the failed Chief of Police makes this year in OT and the rest of the cops make. The PD is such a scheduling budgeting disaster and no one, not even the Mayor does anything about it.
Does anyone know Council Candidates Maggie McBride & Cheri Russo’s ideas for budget cuts, etc? If so, please share. Can’t find any specifics about any of their plans. Thank you.

3000 hours of overtime over a Labor Day weekend???? No wonder this town is broke. I can’t even imagine what a parade or “fun” run must cost us.

Show Cone Man the door. After sending him to FBI school wasting out time and money he can’t even get a passing 70 grade on a test. Did anyone pass this test? Give our acting BA another $50k stipend as Police Director. Bingo. Saves us another $150k a year.
FBI caught the AC Mayor. They didn’t trust the local or County Cops. Same don’t trust the locals 20 years ago in Belmar when ATF investigated and prosecuted computerized counterfeit sports garment industry.
The Mayor hired the new BA and the new BA is fishing buddies with Acting Chief. All 3 cops. Let’s do the math people. Nothing changes in Belmar except the debt amount.

Shocker! All this good stuff weeks before the election. Grow up Walsifer, these are all amateur moves. Where are OUR tax cuts?
#11 You grow up and learn how the real world works. No tax cuts till debts are paid and expenses reduced within the budget to produce a bit of a surplus. That will take time, much time. Maybe you can devalue your property if you are a home owner and appeal your current rate. Wanna do that? Eight years of fiscal trickery cannot be rectified in one year.
So #12, where are the budget cuts ???
Ok, there is a comprehensive budget consisting of categories within it with certain amounts attributed to them. An effort should typically be made, in this case, to spend below those amounts and “save” what can be possible. Certain contributions of materials and supplies have been made which should reduce what could be spent on, say, office supplies. That is a reduction of expenses in a category within the overall budget. It is usually wise to over budget at first and try to save during the fiscal year. Just because something is budgeted does not mean that money has to be spent. Capisce? (kapeesh?)
What happened to ‘growing up and learning how the real world works’?
If my household budget is out of balance, I look to increase revenues AND I make cuts. The cuts aren’t made by budgeting for x amount in staples and then spending only y on staples and hopefully saving some money. I cut. No more cable, I mow my own lawn, clean my own house, less meals out at restaurants, clip coupons, turn off lights, use less heat and AC, etc etc. I CUT. The Belmar government is a bloated cow. It has been a bloated cow for years. Deep cut need to be made.
#15 Of course – cut expenses within the budget, not cut the budget, yet. That was my point. Eventually, if successful, the budget may be cut, except if new expenses are incurred, perhaps in a category, like lawsuits.
Ok. Agreed. It doesn’t seem like there are any cuts in expenditures within the budget though. So any surprise expenses (like lawsuits) will just be added to the bottom line. But I see what your saying.
And the BA should be thanked for obtaining some donations to reduce some expenses instead of being blown off as “big deal”. Yes, his help is a step in the right direction. Be thankful that an effort is being made to reduce some expenses. Recognize good where it is and not just bitch and moan because expenses are not slashed before they are analyzed.
It’s incumbent upon our current Belmar candidate(s) running for Council November 5th to itemize, on this blog, what POSITIVE accomplishments each has made while they were representing Belmar voters during their tenure in office regardless if it was 3 years or 10 months.
#19 – We also need to hear what the Democratic candidates strategies are. How do they plan to get all our budget issues straightened out? No clue on what they’re thinking.
#20- No plan. They’re Matt Doherty proxies trying to get some power back. The fact that he is involved in this at all is a testament to the man’s self delusion. Having their signs on his lawn is bad for those poor women. The guy is politically toxic. Just ask Nicolay and McGovern how associating with Matt helped them right off the dais. Like someone on here said, the only votes they should get are their own.
#21 – Sir/Madam, I’m very sure these two dingbats have no “plan” but the nitwits in control of the town have no plan either. So we equality of the “planless” – Vote for Jim Bean. Now there’s a man with a plan.
