To accomplish what? weaken the anti corruption rules in Belmar for the benefit of the citizen/taxpayers? no that isn’t the reason we are spending these large sums from the taxpayers pockets….the reason is our mayor seeks higher office and political glory and a higher paying political job and this strict ordinance did not allow him enough leeway to accomplish these goals so it had to be weakened for his purposes. Sadly, none in a position to do the right thing for the borough and the people paying the bills did anything useful to prevent this outcome. I put Brian and the rest of the council in this category but some of our professionals are not without blame. The Scarinci firm provided the legal opinion that the mayor hung his hat on to try to change the ordinance and that seems to have worked out well for them even though their legal advice on rejecting the petition was clearly bad as Ken Pringle ran rings around them in front of Judge Gummer and the appellate panel.
