I want to vomit every time I read the bias in that paper each week. Between the planted pro-mayor letters and the shade they throw matt, my money is better spent elsewhere each week.
That’s 43k just to 6/30 and you will note from the timeline there was a lot of legal time spent on this after that date. To accomplish what? weaken the anti corruption rules in Belmar for the benefit of the citizen/taxpayers? no that isn’t the reason we are spending these large sums from the taxpayers pockets….the reason is our mayor seeks higher office and political glory and a higher paying political job and this strict ordinance did not allow him enough leeway to accomplish these goals so it had to be weakened for his purposes. Sadly, none in a position to do the right thing for the borough and the people paying the bills did anything useful to prevent this outcome. I put Brian and the rest of the council in this category but some of our professionals are not without blame. The Scarinci firm provided the legal opinion that the mayor hung his hat on to try to change the ordinance and that seems to have worked out well for them even though their legal advice on rejecting the petition was clearly bad as Ken Pringle ran rings around them in front of Judge Gummer and the appellate panel.
Let’s take it easy on the Coast Star. It’s a little one horse operation with a very, very inexperienced staff. They do only what’s expected of them (nothing much) and that’s what they’re capable of – as a comedian used to say, “What you see is what you got.”
We have had enough divide and conquer leadership in this borough. No one in their right mind is in favor of changing the most protective play to pay ordinance in the state.
Yes, it’s a higher bar to keep the payola patronage at bay but really the public voter needs the protection against wheeling aND the underground funneling of cah cow incumbents.
$43,591. Up to July 21 in le g fees? What is the estimated fee for Belmar Mayor matt’s appointed patronage attorney fees per month in his attempt to water down the OROTECTIVE Pay to play, ANTI-corruption ordinance?
July $$$$, August $$$$$$$, September $$$$$$$$$, October $$$$$$$$$, November $$$$$$$$ and then if you’re really stupid November 9th a gazillion dollars will be spent in Belmar flowing like a lava flow.

Marketing spin:keep blame game propaganda up and the voters will believe anything if they hear/see it often enough. Please Say it ain’t true.
We will NOT believe “Mata Hari mcdirty”.
Plus another $15,000 in taxpayer money for a special election? When does all of this nonsense end?

Lakes will be lowered today, this will place huge amounts of bacteria and feces in the ocean, and on our beaches.
“How can we put into effect a law that our attorney was telling us is not constitutional and unenforceable?” Mayor Doherty asked.
ANSWER:
Support Belmar business! …. take a walk across the street and hire the 7th Avenue attorneys.

#11 — It’s $43,591 in fees and costs only through June 30th, and a lot has happened since then.
