Facebook Finds

As you all know, I search* Google every morning for any new stuff about Belmar.  (I do this so you don’t have to.)  This morning’s results included the Belmar Democrats’ Facebook page with an apparent reaction to the new, more restrictive, messenger ballot law.

The Democrats will now be more dependent on regular mail-in ballots for the people who can’t or won’t vote at the regular polling stations.  This is because D’Jais would need to more than triple the number of their volunteer messengers in order to deliver the same amount of messengered ballots.

I have little doubt that the Dems are not going to let all those votes just go away and I’m sure they are looking at ways to help guarantee that all votes that could be mailed in find their way to a mailbox.

While I was on their page I noticed this too:

I always vote column “A”, so I guess this year I’ll be voting for the Democrats.

Something else on Facebook, this time from Matt Doherty’s page:

That makes me the only candidate in this year’s election that opposes the $4 million bond.  Would one of you guys, if you have a chance, please mention this to the 1000+ people who voted “no” last year?

*BTW, the search term I’ve been using lately is “belmar -jon -ferguson -colorado” with the search set for “last 24 hours”.

It is important Dave, because the 250+ partisans who support the 4.1 million are using a year off the facts, that the very points outlined in Burke’s endorsement be addressed. The petitioners were very clear last summer. Hence the majority believed in the reasonable response. Those facts being:
    1. there was “confusion” last year about the cost and the size of the Taylor Pavilion.
    2. FEMA, INSURANCE & BUY-A-BBOARD will pay for the entire effort, no taxpayer dollars.
    3. It can not be built for less. The
small negative group has not come up with their plans and costs. They just want to stop Belmar rebuilding after Sandy. The petitioners totally misled the community.
We cannot expect the 1041 vote NO folks to Remember the quantitative and factual information to stay informed.

I’m so glad I got myself on the ballot, even if I’m in column “Z”.

GET OUT THE VOTERS ON ELECTION DAY. IT’S WHAT WE NEED TO DO

THERE CAN BE NO SECOND GUESSING. THERE CAN BE NO SABOTAGE THE NIGHT BEFORE THE ELECTION.

WORDS MATTER: Matt Doherty’s post that “rebuilding after Sandy should be a bi-partisan matter.” Speaks to his strategy. The fact is, in order to have the vote NO succeed, it clearly shows that it is a Non-partisan matter. The mayor would love to frame this issue and all others in terms of political party. Fact: Democrats voted NO, Republicans voted YES last August. Partisan Democrats have and will outspend on any issue. He knows that Republicans can’t. There is nothing that either party in Belmar contribute to this issue. Voices that are not blinded by partisan politics need to speak out.
