FEMA Boardwalk Cash Starting To Roll

Just not our way yet.

In NJ.com:

Seaside Heights, Spring Lake receive federal grants for boardwalk repairs

I guess they’re not going in alphabetical order.  Maybe they’re going south to north……..are we next?

I remain very concerned about the amount of money FEMA will allocate to the amounts Belmar has requested from them. Even at the 75% anticipated return for our expenditures, Belmar faces a huge amount of money it will have to pay. Yes, some can be charged to the beach utility ,but we have been running that as a loss over the past few years. Most of the rest will have to come from our general budget. I just cannot as yet comprehend how our Mayor can say we will do this with out a tax increase. Many questions have been raised by local residents on how we have spent money like it has no end……I suspect FEMA too will take a hard look at our “over spending”. I guess the Mayor figures this election year will be gone when this happens and that hopefully he will still have control of Belmar council……That my friends scares me. Our Mayor just may be long gone, taking his act somewhere else while we are still here trying to figure out how to get out of a financial crisis.

It is time to get some honest answers and honest projections on what all of this out of control spending is going to cost the Belmar tax payer. Just take a look at the lists of “Paid Bills” submitted for council approval over the past 6 months and you too will become very concerned for the impact we can expect.
