Final Final Final Vote Count

As we know,  changes in the laws governing mail in ballots made the vote tallies compiled on election night highly tentative. In the future we really won’t ever know for sure who won an election until 48 hours after the polls close. I hate that law. It ruins election day and it ruins election night parties. Election day itself doesn’t even mean anything any more.  And of course it opens up a window for all sorts of hanky panky if the election night results end up being close enough that it would be worth trying to somehow come up with some new ballots.

Anyway we can all stop holding our breath now.

Congratulations again to the Republican team. Well done!

And, Congratulations and a huge Thank You to you Dave, for all of your work. It has not been in vain. I hope that all those that frequent your page and add constructive thoughts regarding our town can imagine all of the time you put into this effort. All in the name of making Belmar great again. Some year Huh. Doherty flies the coup, you move on in the next stage of your life and finally the system is purged. We wish you were here to see the smiles you have helped put on good people’s faces. I pray that as your site continues, it becomes a place where people without voice can be heard by our newly elected officials. I ask that those now entering Office monitor your site and hear the People. I only remind them that they too will be voted out next term if these words fall on deaf ears. Thanks again Dave (and others to many to list).

Fascinating looking at the breakdowns. It seems at though DJais didn’t do the usual ballot box stuffing this year? Or was the momentum against the current administration to much? Jen’s (nearly) biggest loss came from her own district. Levis numbers are nearly identical to Jens. He really bet on the wrong horse. It’s too bad, he seems very smart and independently minded. I’m sure James will be great though.

We all owe a big thank you to Dave for all his hard work. I also hope he stays in touch and continues the blog in some way. I know he has moved on, but maybe he can continue with some of the big issues…I am waiting to hear news on the Harmon lawsuit. As much as I hate to see a lawsuit against Belmar, the Harmon brothers deserve justice. What happened to them is criminal.

While I’m thrilled that the Republicans won, what will become of this blog? For years it’s thrived on criticisms of the Democrats running the town, and anything and anyone connected to them, past or present. Will the winners be under the same scrutiny, even though they were favored by most people who tune in to Common Sense for Belmar? True, occasionally there has been information unrelated to Democrats, but mostly it’s been about dissatisfaction Regarding decisions made by the Democrat council, and other perceptions about them. How will it work in the future, in January after the swearing in ceremonies?

As long as Connolly is around we will have plenty to write about, she was the reason the democrats lost. Wonder if they even realize that they lost because of her and are they upset they didn’t speak up against all of the harm she has done to our town and the small businesses that are here.

#11-I totally agree! They are so blind to just how crooked she really is. I have never seen someone so ignorant!! How she doesn’t know or care to know just how disliked by so many is beyond my comprehension. I truly hope Mayor Elect Walsifer can get her out of here for good. She is not qualified for the CFO position and to think she has it in the bag is well again her ignorance! If Brian has the ultimate last decision I truly hope he does one thing right before he exits!!!

If dopey McGovern is ignorant enough and make a lame duck appointment for her to b CFO, I’m sure Mark has a plan to undo it. He must, that was a campaign promise.

#13…Colleen certainly does think she’s entitled to the CFO position. Just like she thinks she’s entitled to treat the borough employees like garbage. She’s always acted like she was so above everyone else, and that she was in control of everything. It doesn’t matter that there are other applicants way more qualified and experienced. And if Brian cares anything about Belmar, he will do the right thing. And why on earth would she want to stay in a place where no one likes or respects her? In fact, most hate her, and hate is a very, very strong word.

So I understand that interviews for CFO were conducted, and that Colleen was one of the applicants. If she gets the job, will her current salary of about $118,000.00 decrease to the starting salary for CFO? She has no experience at all.

If she gets the CFO position, it may be a fun form of punishment for her. From what I understand, none of the borough employees like her. She will no longer be business administrator, so the employees will no longer have to put up with her disrespectful behavior. And….the best part….she’ll have to answer to the new Mayor and business administrator!!

Obviously, we’re no NYC, but in our own small way we are in dire need of immediate hard action across the board in this town. We are about to experience hard times if immediate action is not forthcoming.
