Flashback September 2012 *updated

From the September 27, 2012 Coast Star report on the September 19 Council meeting:

One of the unreported contributions in the current NJ ELEC complaint is a $1200 contribution from “LBP Enterprises”.  LBP Enterprises is owned by Luis Pulido, who was chairman of Jennifer Nicolay’s 2011 campaign.  As mentioned in the article, he was prohibited from donating to the campaign and the contribution referred to in the article was returned to him and replaced by Ms. Nicolay.  So was the $1200 contribution that went unreported even allowable?

*Update

A reader with a good memory contacted me to report that Pulido had two problems with the 2011 campaign.  First is that he was simultaneously Belmar Democratic Chair and chairman of Nicolay’s 2011 campaign.  That is not permitted.  The problem with the donation, as my reader recalls, was that it was from Pulito’s L.L.C., which would have made the contribution unallowable.  The $1200 donation cited in the current complaint is also from Pulito’s L.L.C.

compliance

Thanks reader with a good memory!

This is a situation for those responsible for campaign ethics and election law to determine. Why over 3 years later this blog finds it necessary to enter into it escapes me.Oh ya you can say things like ethics and honesty and right to know etc, but to me it is a negative campaign venture from the blog administrator. Let’s keep it current…..what are your plans for tomorrow, what is past is prologue.

The state filed it’s charges less than two weeks ago. Is that current enough?

Tom stop trying to use this blog to gain attention. The candidate in question has been charged with serious violations. If that is not current I’m not sure what is. Apparently you support unlawful behavior if you do not want it documented and brought to the public’s attention.

Mr. Burke, you are the one who is guilty of a “negative campaign venture” in chastising this blog’s administrator for timely, accurate reporting of something relevant to Belmar. Are unethical or dishonest actions less so three years after an investigation was started?

MRS. FLORIO, an 80ish widow at the time and a lifelong democrat was removed, by then democrat chairman “pulido”, from her job as a poll worker with the board of election. It was a disgrace then and is today to all residents of Belmar who are genuine. That may be the source of the bad taste many in this town experience. Unfortunately we know that History has a tendency to repeat. Remember the adage, fool me once…

Only one member of the democrat party apologized to Mrs Florio for that unprecedented, abhorrent behavior.

Media reportage is easy to evaluate for content. Read as much as you can. Through analysis, evaluations either objective or subjective decisions can be easily made. Shop around, there is value out there if you are not in lock step. Learning is lifelong building blocks. Yea Gene!

I have to agree with Mr. Burke. Jennifer Nicolay isn’t guilty of anything. She’s not engaged enough to be dishonest.

When Mr. Burke and Mr. Schneck’s campaign manager lost himself in Las Vegas, I jumped in. I love the fact that
    Burke revised the “element” demeaning
insult today after the special election put that tactic to rest with 60% of the voters electing to be the “element”. God! what is in that Kool-Aid? Pulido and the gang smeared him- said Burke would cut senior programs, no youth recreation programs
and so on. The sad fact is that if Uncle Tom can’t write comments on this blog, he can’t be heard. I for one cannot wait till Nov. 4th and Uncle Tom can pity party with Jim Keady and blame the Republicans. Tue to any politician these days, I know he will not take responsibility to loosing to a Gee! Jennifer is great campaign strategy.

It seems that Uncle Tom is some how embarrassed by my jumping in to assist his 2013 run for council. I understand why he feels that denying any relationship to me is critical but even the 10/25 2013 Republican campaign report on Belmar.com reveals that he is lying but again. Funny I still have a dozen Burke & Schneck T-Shirts First there was the meet & greet/Kleins, 2 page Just The Facts mailer, Color postcard mailer and I guess it was someone who looked like me setting up and standing at the Burke & Schneck booths at San Genaro and Fall festival. It’s OK Uncle Tom, I know it is easy for you to forget things. That’s why I am voting for Schneck, he remembers and even thanked me many times.

I have been told by Mr. Burke that his reference to me as cuckoo had to do with my nesting habits and not that I am silly or cracked -brain. This is a relief. Uncle Tom’s reference was to me using another’s (this website blog) and not my own. Guilty as charged. I am a practical person and could never develop a safe and widely read venue such as this one on my own. This highlights, what I believe contrasts Mr. Burke and myself. Today I read his several campaign promises and that is what they are. Looking sensibly at how the current administration works, it would be impractical and naïve to believe that one councilman could effect any or all of them. First all resolutions and ordinances for the past five years originate with the Business Administrator. In order for Burke to do anything in the 4 areas, he will have to have a uniquely candid and influential relationship with Colleen. He might want to ask around, ask the other council people if they have ever approached Colleen with their ideas for changes and had resolutions or ordinances show up as a result of those meetings. Just saying.

This is why when I wrote what I’d like to do, I premised it on only if two more people of similar views were elected in 2016. Without a Council majority the only thing I can do is speak and inform.

Sometimes in a republic in trouble-it calls for those to speak and inform.
With so much control centralized in so few-we will have to crawl before walking in Belmar. Thank you for stepping up to the task. I for one do not take such service for granted. I harken back to Germany in the early 40’s. To not speak is to speak. To not inform is to allow others to misinform.
