You all know how much I believe in diversity. In the case of disturbances, I believe in a diverse response. There should be enough of “both” police sexes called upon the disturbance and an equal number of other species. For example, K9s have an excellent reputation in quelling disorders. They should be employed. Interestingly how I haven’t seen one police force employing the pooches. I can hear the authorities now, “Oh yeah, the dogs really do good work – let’s not use them.”

Why don’t police use water canons to disperse the rioters?

I mean it’s a nice gesture on the part of simply southern, but I can understand why the Sonny’s owners would be upset about the nextdoor place giving hot dogs away for free when you are barely scraping by trying to sell hot dogs.

If the reason for a brawl between two business owners is that one has decided to try to give back to the community, that is silly maybe a discussion on how both can participate. Many restaurants in town are offering free meals at times because people can not afford to feed their families and they are not getting into fist fights. This situation is not easy, not for small business owners, not for individuals out of work and not for the leaders. what is not helpful to any situation is violence and chaos, the community should be standing together in this difficult time with the understanding no one has it easy. I feel for every small business, especially the ones that were forced to be closed they truly have their hands tied.

#7 Well stated and I completely agree that it should not have led to violence. I just think hot dogs specifically were probably a poor choice for a giveaway in this instance. Could have chosen something else. But violence is definitely not the answer.

#8 I get that but we do not know the circumstance, maybe hot dogs was something easier for a give away, and when people do no have money to feed their kids Im sure they really appreciate things like that. All Im trying to say is maybe it wasnt about a feud, and maybe the guy was trying to give back in away he could (im sure he is struggling as well), but we should discourage people from trying to give back to a community right now. And it wasnt going to be forever, it was two days. I saw a neighbors child outside on friday when I got home from work, he was sitting there waiting to see if his free meal was going to get dropped off for lunch this was now at 6pm. I went in my house and got food together and dropped it off and asked him a list of his favorites and proceeded to the grocery store to make sure he had milk and food. It was heart breaking to me so when anyone tries to do any simple thing they can to help I think they deserve a thank you.

#10 I disagree…Burgers are prob best in town when you factor in price, as good or better than anchor for less money. Shakes are good. Dogs are good. I’m a fan. It’s an easy place to take the family. As far as simply southern, we ate there a few times and liked it, but had a bad experience years ago and haven’t been back. They do a lot of great work supporting the community and should be commended for that.
