Gas Guzzlers Of The Belmar Democrats

I read the list of potentially expensive and largely symbolic actions the Council Democrats will require us to take in order to regain our status as a “SustainableJersey” town.  I’m not sure what the benefit of that is but I really would prefer that they concern themselves more with the sustainability of our bank accounts.

The 8th goal of the suggested resolution “Commits to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution from vehicles”.  I believe Brian Magovern drives a regular car like an Accord or something but the other three Council Democrats all drive heavy, gas guzzling, high emission SUVs.  So maybe when they start auditing every drip of energy consumed in the Borough, the first place they should look is in their own driveways.

Jennifer Nicolay drives a late 2000s Toyota Highlander, rated at “up to” 18 MPG city, 24 highway.  She uses it to find shortcuts from her house to Borough hall.

.

Tom Brennan drives a mid 2000s Honda Pilot, also rated at “up to” 18 MPG city, 24 highway.  He is always complaining about the conditions of the roads between Belmar Elementary School and his house on 11th Ave.

.

I believe Matt Doherty’s Jeep Wrangler is a 2012.  It is rated at “up to 17 MPG city, 21 highway.  Matt’s mayoral duties always make him late for happy hour.

.

It is not my practice to tell people how to live.  I don’t care what gas mileage age their cars get and I don’t care if they use plastic bags or have plastic lawns.  But like I’ve written previously, I try not to be wasteful in my own personal life.  I re-use plastic and paper bags over and over.  I never drink any beverage from a disposable container.  And when I recently decided to buy a new car all I wanted was something practical, reliable and fun to drive.  My Honda Fit EX with the 6 speed manual transmission is perfect.  The 2017 Fit is rated at “up to 33 MPG city and 40 highway.

So far with the Fit I’ve been able to find paved roads that go every place I need to go.

In the interests of full disclosure I should mention that I also have an old 4WD Ford Ranger that I drive so infrequently that I can’t even keep the battery charged.  In fact, in the six months that I’ve had the Fit I’ve put more miles on it that I have put on the Ranger, which I’ve had for nearly five years.

I should also mention that I expect Republican Councilman Mark Walsifer to look out for the taxpayers and oppose this resolution.  However if he votes in favor of it Tuesday night we’ll have to find out what kind of vehicle he drives every day.

Speaking of Mark Walsifer, are there any candidates for the primary?

That white jeepie thing looks like one of those tanks fouling the beach for the month or so. Talk about pollution and Planners incompetence? Oh, thats right the parade people needed to see the Ocean from the lake just incase they didn’t know the difference between the two bodies of water.

I have a really old car. Doesn’t run so I’m not causing pollution.

You all need to understand their agenda. Belmar bought into Agenda 21 from the UN. All the stuff they do is for that, the 3 story high buildings with retail on one level, condos on another, and some with parking. Look at the terms like “sustainable” and “renewable” and all the other pitch words they use. Just google Agenda 21 and look at what it calls for. It will open your eyes.

One thing these people want to do away with is private home ownership and private car ownership.

But don’t take Slate or Glen Beck’s opinion of it’s meaning. Here’s the real thing:

#’s 8&9 – Yeah, that’s the ticket, the un. I pray that this president gets us out of that crummy outfit. And I hope when he kicks that them out of here, he confiscates all their vehicles for all the parking tickets they owe and never pay, and when their so-called diplomats leave here, take all their valuables as well, including their rings and watches. It’ll be like a sign of good faith to the decent citizenry of this country for all the nasty things they’ve done while here.
