Classic Matt Doherty, again exploiting a tragedy to raise his personal profile.

So #3 are you saying JJ Watt just wanted to raise his profile by raising 16 million? Or Michael Dell who is dontating 36 million? I bet if Matt found the cure for cancer #3 would complain he was taking jobs away from doctors.

While you all know I’m against Matt politically, I get along with the guy, otherwise in our occasional meetings which more or less only have to do with his shouting a greeting at me or blowing the horn while I’m walking alongside a road. So I feel a little bad as he goes along paving the road to his own destruction, however they may materialize. I’ve seen this type of thing before. It always ends up badly for the person who seems to be flying high – oh well, can’t be helped.

A bath attendant just Thursday said she hoped there were a few nice days this weekend. She “heard” they were down quite a bit from last year. I guess Mayors not worried about the beach staff payroll

#4 – Good try, but those gentlemen have no need to raise their profiles, although Matt Doherty is desperate to do so.

Hey Mayor. Have Leo Ayala helicopter you down there, followed by a caravan of junk military surplus equipment led by Campbell, to donate. Make sure the press is there to meet you at the tarmac. Charter a bus and being back some displaced illegal immigrants and DOCAs. You can temporarily house them in our brand new, vacant, $4M public safety building. Employ them to clean up beer cans and puke on Sat. and Sun. mornings. If you pick out some handy ones, they can repair the shoddy, union made, handrails on the new buildings. AND, if they stick around long enough, with some creative writing, register them to vote to help out Brennan in Nov. Unfortunately for all of us, you won’t need votes this year. And don’t forget to grab some little ones. They too can use our schools during the off (winter rental) season.

Using a crisis to expedite issues of fund disbursement is no excuse for faulty or loose bookkeeping methods, as it appears to have happened in Belmar after hurricane Sandy regarding the Shoprite gift card “caper”, for example. This is a time to be accurate and within the limits of the law, not, “Oh gee, we have to act fast blah blah blah,” take shortcuts, just to appear compassionate and generous. Those who do not trust this mayor and administration are correct in their assessment of motive and method.

From watching the news I am really impressed with the resolve of those Texans. Nobody is whining and they are all so determined to help each other. What a different group of people down there. I encourage all with some means to donate to legitimate and proven charities.

#8 I don’t know what the Mayor can do about it or if it’s even his fault, but you are correct that there is a big heroin problem in Belmar.

An over-zealous promotion of Belmar as a fun place to hang out and an attitude and policy of softness on crime and nuisance create an atmosphere of acceptance for criminals to do what they do. Booze and heroin, what’s the difference, except that booze is legal for people of a certain age. Heroin can just kill one faster than booze. One creeps in behind the other when it is believed that the authorities may be complicit in the prevalence and availability of alcohol. Some people like to get high in a bar, so dealers of stronger products are waiting therein to sell their drugs. Come to the funhouse of Belmar and get stoned is the hidden message, as I see it.
