“Home By Next Month?”

NJTV News video on growing frustration with FEMA features Teresa Keefe and Krista Sperber:

Link to the story here.

The only mention of “Home by Summer” was that Keefe “started rebuilding with grants”.  In Sperba’s case it wasn’t mentioned at all.

Don’t you think that’s a little odd?

The story was about FEMA and peoples frustrations with that organization. It was not about ‘home by summer’. While you and others may feel there are some issues with that local program, state it as such and what problems you see……going through the back door as usual on this one.
People want a stand up person, not someone who slithers through cracks in the walls.

    There you go again.

Thousands of people in NJ and probably hundreds in Belmar have FEMA stories to tell, but the story focuses on only two people..the two recipients of “Home by Summer” largess. The fact that these two women were chosen for the story but “Home by Summer” isn’t mentioned strikes me as odd.

it sounds like burke is drinking some of the mayors kool aid. What i find odd is on one interview Sperber and Keefe will talk about the Home By Summer. The next interview they will both talk about fema money and how they didnt get enough. They never have a interview and talk about donations and insurance together. The only snakes here are keefe, sperber and the mayor and his minions

Tom Burke…I don’t think the problem is with the local program at all and I think Dave posting this shows the issues at hand, what needs to be stated? Yes the interview is about FEMA and the peoples frustrations but why are they using this woman again. This looks to me like just another desperate attempt to raise more money to complete a house that they ran out of money to build due to the fact that Ms. Keefe’s house being built is three times the original size and with amenities most of us cant afford in our own homes. Now all of a sudden it is a lack of FEMA money again. Are you going to tell me its not coincidental they are using the Keefe/Sperber families again. I’m sure there are many other families in our community having issues with FEMA.I highly doubt its a case of FEMA not paying enough out, The article is misleading and leaving out some very important facts out .Like the fact that there has been a 9 month ongoing fundraiser, that was supposed to be at completion June 1st and to date both projects are incomplete due to lack of funds. And that just starts the list of all the things that don’t add up here. We are all sick and tired of the poor single mom living with a disabled brother and mother Sandy victim. Time for a new approach. I would love to see some documentation in regards to donation amounts that have been given to date and permits for this house and how supposedly these people are moving in this week when they have no sidewalks and yellow caution tape up over the house. The only people slithering through the cracks of the wall are all the shady people making this project happen and in the sneaky manner as Belmar always does. Dave is a stand up guy who keeps the people informed with truth and honesty and is not afraid to speak up and put the facts out there. We can sit here and let it happen and all talk behind these families backs after the fact or do something now like we should when this situation is clearly wrong, possibly illegal and should not be allowed to continue. Lastly people deserve the truth, especially the ones who really need the assistance from the town and they are not getting it. Its a disgrace and makes Belmar look horrible.

The story was done on 8/20/15. I await a response from the reporter as to how the selection of residents was made. I’ll keep you posted if/when that response is given. I’ve heard it said that there’s no such thing as coincidence.

Thank you Cathi…I to have emailed the reporter to give her some more details into the whole Sperber/Keefe “Home By Summer” situation. It people like you that we need to help shed some light on what is going on. I to agree with that saying No Coincidences .I’m sorry what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong.

“Fema” is like any insurance agency they pay percentages some things they cover and other things they do not. When you consider most plans do not cover the first 2 blocks from the beach (per my old agent) at least they cover some of the damages. Most companies pick and chose no wind only fire no water and on and on. It is not a win-win for the home owner.”Fema” is now reviewing the claims to see what they are and how they were handled. That’s a start.

If any of you responders to this original post can be objective please do the following: 1. Listen to the tape (again) 2. And, re-read my comments.
I said the video is about FEMA. I also said there very well may be some issues with the “home by summer” program for these two families.
What I am also saying is that IF Mr. Schneck has issues and concerns with that (home by summer) program it is he who should be saying what HIS issues and concerns are. By using the approach he chose to use, he left it up to others to make thecomments. Once aging saying nothing himself other that here I (me) go again. Be up front in the first place Dave.
As for pseudonym “Old Man” who says I should say nothing until after the election, what, you don’t like what I have to say? And, just so you know, whoever you are, when I feel I have something to say it will be said, either here on this blog or on my own page. In fact, tomorrow morning may be a good time to tune into my page, it will be about Mr. Schneck, and be a direct result of questions and comments I have had the pleasure of hearing over the past several days at the San Gennaro Festival here in Belmar.

I can make information available to my readers without going into some long-winded boring rant about what my opinion is of it. Maybe I don’t have an opinion, or maybe I do but don’t necessarily feel like sharing it with you and hundreds of other people. Or maybe I want to listen first to hear what other people think before I form my on opinion. Or maybe I just don’t have time to write or just don’t feel like it.

I write what I feel like writing when I feel like writing. What you want me to write about has nothing to do with it. You should be happy I even let you post comments here.

BTW, I couldn’t do San Gennaro folks because we had my in-laws and some family friends down for the weekend. They went down there to see it but I couldn’t go because I have a painful leg muscle pull. I might ask for a table at the Fall Festival though. Thinking about it.

We are here putting all the blame on Matt when Im sure they went to him and his people with the same sob story they are giving the public.

This interview was done because Brenda Flanagan called me about a story she was doing on people reopening their flood claims. I have done several interviews with her over the past 3 years and she will call me to connect her with people to interview. My case is already in court, so I introduced her to Teresa. She then spoke to me because I have been at the forefront of the movement to get claims reopened and expose the fraud. As you may or may not know, interviews are very, very long; most of which ends up on the cutting room floor. They use the parts they want/need.
