Hudson Political Hit Man Takes An Interest In Belmar

Some of you might have gotten one of these:

Turns out the PVC is a Super PAC chaired by a Bayonne pol named Joe Waks. Here’s a story about a previous hit:

And other rough stuff:

Nice to have folks from all over the state trying to help do something about Belmar’s tax problem.

The democratic candidates should be ashamed of themselves. But that would mean they’d have to have an actual thought of their own in their head. Instead of being fed their lines by the puppet master.

Here we go again with outsiders manipulating the voters of Belmar.
Reminds me of the crying baby, hand ringing senior glossy mailer back when Dave ran. Big big bucks! I’m somewhat skeptical our two girls have that kind of money in their war chest.

Please people! Don’t let them manipulate you like this.

Jim McCracken and Tom Carvelli could have played politics and voted no on that budget and it still would have passed.
They didn’t skirt the issue but made an honest tough choice to get us back on
track after 8 years of lying manipulative “ no tax increase” gimmicks that sunk this town in 36 MILLION DOLLARS OF DEBT!
Let’s keep focused and put the blame solidly where it belongs. Matt Doherty.
And what does he and his two cronies get
for burying us in debt and financial ruin????? Nice big buck jobs living off taxpayer dollars. Why that’s so looking out for the little guy of them.

The budget would still have passed by majority vote, and Walsifer would have promptly been stonewalled. Remember Jim had to OPRA information that’s supposed to be at his fingertips.

Walsifer was biding his time, and what happened to Belmar during that period would have happened regardless.

Medicare and private health insurance(healthy subsidize the sick), bridges & highways (we all pay for them even those of us that don’t use them) auto insurance (good drivers subsidize bad drivers). That is socialism. If I take good care of myself (eat right, exercise, don’t drink or smoke) yet have to pay for a 70 yo individual on Medicare that smoked and drank everyday and was 50 pounds overweight, should I be mad? Perhaps. Should I have to pay for the outrageous hospital bills that accumulate based on that person’s life choices? Yes, I should. That’s our society and that is socialism. The fact that we, a large and wealthy industrialized nation, do not have a universal healthcare option, is a joke. We all pay taxes. If your on welfare and Medicaid you still purchase things that are taxed. You still live in a place (even if you rent) that pays property taxes. Do some take advantage of the system? Absolutely, but I’ve worked with people trying to get on Medicaid. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. It’s degrading and humiliating. You say there’s nothing wrong with publicly funded programs? That’s what I’m talking about. There are people that are among the super rich that find so many loopholes that they barely pay ANY taxes. Are you upset with them? I doubt it. That amount of lost revenue far exceeds the percentage of our national budget that pays for programs for the poor. You literally named a total of four democrats you don’t like. One is a private citizen who has almost no chance of winning the primary and the other three are junior congress women that are the democratically elected representatives of THEIR respective districts. None of which are in NJ. They really scare you? Well there are some southern republican congress members that are openly racist and believe the earth is only 5000 years old. I don’t like them but I’m not going to condemn the entire party because of them.I also work hard and pay my taxes. I own my home and take care of my children. I don’t like seeing people marginalized. Our society is only as good as its poorest members and the poor and the marginalized need to be cared for. That idea is based on Christian values. At least the ones I was raised on.

And anyway, my point was that BOTH parties engage in this mud slinging BS. We can argue about the benefits of democratic socialism, but not about that.

However, he has criminal charges against him in the southern district of NY. His personal attorneys are at this moment arguing that he can’t be charged as a sitting president. The charges are very serious and the evidence is pretty damning (this is all separate from what’s happening with congress’ impeachment inquiry). Once he is no longer president…either convicted by the Senate (which is unlikely and has never happened in the nation’s history) or through the democratic process (election)…he will no longer be protected from prosecution from the NY District Attorney’s office. That legal battle may put a damper on his ability to mount an effective independent run for office. My guess is that if he somehow survives the criminal charges, he will start a TV news network to compete against CNN and Fox News. It’s been discussed as a likely project.

As for the Ukraine situation- unfortunately, from the testimony collected so far, it appears as though the president did indeed withhold congressionally approved military aid in order to pressure Zelenskiy to investigate Hunter Biden. Some of the worst testimony comes from officials appointed by the presidents own cabinet members (ie William Taylor by Mike Pompeo)
The argument you’re making (and I agree with) seems to be whether or not withholding aid in order to pressure a foreign government to investigate the son of a domestic political rival is, in fact, an impeachable offense.
The six committees that are conducting the inquiry (intelligence, finance, judiciary, way and means, foreign affairs, and over-sight and reform), all made up of republican and democrat congress members, have been investigating the incident. If they determine that the president abused his authority, they will hand it up to the senate for a verdict. I believe that the senate (needs a 67 vote majority) will not convict. However, the president’s recent moves to pull troops out of northern Syria and his attempt to hold the G7 summit at his own personal golf club (since rescinded)has angered some key republican senators. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

#56 – “pull troops out of northern Syria”
I don’t give a rat’s behind about Syria of any other of the crummy places we have troops. Just bring all our troops home from anywhere that isn’t our 50 states. Like George Washington said, “Beware of foreign entanglements.” It’s time to finally heed those words after all these years.

All true. But the republicans in Congress are the most upset about it. Also the military brass. I think the problem is that we used the Kurds to help us defeat ISIS and then left them the twist in the wind. I’m all for avoiding foreign entanglements but don’t you agree that abandoning the our allies like this is wrong? Plus there are still US troops there ‘guarding the oil’. The message is that if you help us fight terrorists, you’re not as important as the oil fields.
I get the point about not entering sectarian conflicts around the world but we maybe setting ourselves up for big trouble. At least in this instance.

So for how long would we be expected to put Americans in between the Turks and the Kurds? And BTW, there was no ISIS until we destroyed Iraq and left a giant vacuum for them to walk into.

Admin- I agree about Iraq. We should never have been there. And you’re right, ISIS was formed the minute our tanks rolled into Baghdad in 2002. We changed the regime from the Ba’ath/Sunni and gave power to the oppressed Shi’a. That gave Iran a whole lot of power and they were more than happy to destabilize the region. The Sunnis that we’re displaced became ISIS.
-66 Are saying it was bad when Obama brought troops home from Iraq (he literally ran on that issue) but it’s good when president Trump brings home troops from Syria? I’m sorry but that’s a pretty glaring double standard. President Trump has a hotel in Istanbul by the way. That’s the capital of Turkey That kind of conflict of interest would have this blog lighting up if it was, say, Matt Doherty. Also- NONE of the troops that were in Syrian came home. They were dispersed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq. So if your going to be angry about over seas conflicts and troops fighting other people’s battles, now is the time to be angry.
My concern with the Kurd situation is the possibility that abandoning them after using them to help us defeat ISIS and promising to protect them from Turkish forces will cause a generation of Kurdish children that grow up with the single minded desire to hurt Americans. It is Afghanistan all over again. We helped them fight the Soviet Union only to leave them in chaos. We all know what that ultimately led to.
I agree that we shouldn’t be engaged in endless conflicts around the world. We have been doing some pretty unsavory things in other countries for many decades. These things are done under both democrat and republican administrations.
Lastly, it sounds to me, in comment #65, that Dave is hoping maybe we the people will help decide whether to renew the contract with the web host. I can only speak for myself but I say absolutely. This blog has been an incredible resource for information and quite literally saved this town and exposed, and continues to expose, dishonesty in our local politics. Please keep it going.

I did most enjoy #36 comments about why he dropped supporting Doherty and wondered why more of his party did not do so as well. The Captain and i are of different political persuasions but it appears we agree on a lot about politics. And i noticed no one took issue with the comments about our form of government being lousy if no one is willing to disagree with the mayor and then hides afterward when the damage is done[or was that a different thread?] And technically may i suggest a respite from CNN and MSNBC? you would think Preets old crowd and Comeys daughter are totally without animus based on your views . And yes a vote for Bean will have a positive impact on the town I do believe.
