Hunterdon Freeholders Oppose Gas Tax Hike

And get some good press about it:

Here is the resolution:

Last fall the Morris County Freeholders passed an almost identical resolution and also made the news:

Now far be it from me to give advice to our Monmouth County Freeholders.  I have no relationship with them and in fact I’ve even met any of them.

But I hope someone who knows one of them is reading this and will pass along this suggestion:

They should pass this same resolution post haste.  Then Tom Arnone and Serena DiMaso, who are both running for reelection to the Board, should arrange a press conference at the Getty station here and explain how a gas tax increase is unnecessary and how it would be even more painful to County residents than NJNG’s proposed rate increase would ever be.  They also need to point out that Mayor Doherty’s wife has been one of the leading voices at Forward NJ advocating a gas tax increase and that she even got him to write a letter, published on their website, supporting the increase.

As I said, I have no relationship with any of these people and I’m not involved at all with their campaign.  I just think it would be a very appropriate thing to do given Doherty’s very public opposition to increasing the cost of the other type of gas.

BTW, speaking of relationships, it has been reported that all four Belmar Councilmen sustained minor injuries yesterday while attempting to walk around the Mayor’s new house blindfolded.

Did you ever notice how many traffic lights are located on Jersey City streets? Yes, they are on every other corner. Big profit maker. Flight to the suburbs was cheaper than wasting pricey fuel at every other corner in JVKenny’s traffic light scheme.
