I Agree It’s A Problem

But I think education is the answer. I’ve seen so many people out there who have no clue.

Angle your umbrella into the wind and use a serious umbrella anchor and you’ll never have a problem.  I used Sand Anchors from Amazon the whole time I lived in Belmar and I can tell you these things work.

Why not have the beach chair/lounge rental guy sell or rent them out. Duh. This is not brain surgery and shouldn’t require the waste of time and money being spent by our legislative branch to figure out. They should spend more time on lowering property taxes. Heck, but that would require getting rid of the wasteful spending hiring the cronies. Never mind. Or hand out direction to beach goers on how to use an umbrella, on recyclable paper of course. You can’t teach stupidity, or perhaps it should be taught in grade school. What do you think TOM

OMG. Please leave it to the local authorities. These two idiots should find ways to keep people from leaving NJ. Like lowering taxes and make NJ more business friendly. That’s a start. Pass the aspirins please.

More liability for Belmar if you assume the installation of an item that’s been in use for over 100 years. Back to Parasols for everyone.

If I see someone that doesn’t look like they are setting up an umbrella correctly I go over with my shovel and dig a deep hole for them. I have been also known to lower an umbrella if left unattended and its windy.

No need for any laws we the people can take care of each other not more government.

Speaking of beach. I noticed on the north side of Taylor pavilion on the beach, that DPW installed the fence posts for seating for Merri Makers. Mayor Walsifer why are they allowed to do this? They do not rent the sand. I know it’s been said anyone can use the tables, then why fence it in? The average beachgoer would never know. This was just another perk given to Merri Makers from Doherty and Connolly. Mayor Walsifer, please stop this before the season starts. You campaigned on reforms to the Merri Makers abuse!

There shall be “No” affixed structure(s) and/of planting, wood, concrete, etc, allowed by DEP, on any beaches abutting the Ocean without their express approval. Where is Tom Tom? Protect the endangered fauna Tom, we have a public trust issue with storm fencing let alone poles to rope off The catrring hall area that’s being put up by DPW in Belmar.

#7&#9. I sit on 5th ave beach and often wondered the same thing. What gives Merri Makers the right to have people roaming the beach asking for food orders and then fencing off their own little private seating area on the beach? I also notice the dpw tractors digging holes for their bonfires and putting logs around it as barriers and then coming back the next day to clean it up! Who is paying for this? Mayor, Merri Makers needs to go.

#10- I suggest you point out the ordinance infraction to the nearest Police Uniform and ask that person to document the violation/warning with an incident number. If you get no satisfaction from that Uniform, ask for a supervisor to respond.

#16 If that is true, who enforces the lease agreement? Who in town can be contacted about this violation? I’d like to have a name so they can be made aware.

As far as the beach umbrellas go, take off the pointed tip on the bottom of the poll, pound the pole into the sand a few times. Empty the sand that is forced into the pole between the poundings, this will remove the sand from the hole you are digging and you have a deep hole to secure your umbrella. Very simple. I have been doing this for over 20 years and my umbrella has never flown away.
