Whenever I hear Mike Seebeck speak I am reminded what an opportunity Belmar lost not electing him to the Council. He is smart and can always be trusted to do the right thing.
Instead we got the pilot and the musician.
I agree with the comment made by someone that suggested we all contact state and county officials about the behavior of the Mayor and Council, however we deserve the people we voted in for. Its time for the Democratic voters who are unhappy, to show how disappointed they are with the way the Mayor and Council are running Belmar. It does not make you a bad democrat, it shows you have common sense!
I could not agree more #1.
Also, regarding Jim Bean- Jim Bean was the first person to bring this whole mess to light. Whether it was the budget, lost gift cards, the beach utility and everything else, Jim Bean always was there fighting for the taxpayers. He would make a fine mayor.
#9 Do you think a man who has been on the Board of Ed. For as many years as he has only cares for himself? He has been there long since his son has graduated from the school system. I am sure he could have been other places but he chose to remain and do the job.
I am sure you would like to see him gone because of your comments however
Hundreds of others do not agree with you and keep putting him back on the board.
You have to be an ignoramus not to exercise your right to vote for Board of Education candidates in Belmar; BOE is by far the most important portion of your tax bill for many, many reasons in addition to our future.
If Mark wins he’ll be sorely missed on the Board of Ed. I’m running for BOE again this year. I’ve been serving for a few years and am thrilled to be involved. I know many of you disagree with my comments and I’m happy to hear yours. I’ll always be honest (in case you haven’t noticed), and will work hard to make Belmar school an excellent education with the least tax burden possible. Feel free to ask me questions or voice concern at any time.
I haven’t noticed much flurry about Aileen’s comments per se however there should be less banter about dems vs gop philosophies. We need independent thinkers who are non partisan in Belmar. Vote for the best, most qualified candidate, not a party line. We’ve seen enough of both.
#16 Aileen you are sounding like Claire. “will work hard to make Belmar an excellent education”? Really?? Belmar is not even close to being a blue ribbon school let alone top 50 in NJ.
I’m cracking up now. Guess I’ve successfully alienated Common Sense folks and Mayor and Council people. Claire and I met months ago then emailed back and forth about Belmar’s issues. You can believe me – we are not on the same page. If I thought I could make positive change at Belmar Elementary as an outsider I’d stay away, but I think I need to be there learning and speaking up to make positive change. My kids go there. Oldest got into Red Bank Regional no problem and other two currently enrolled are testing in top half of the state average. That’s not genetics – it’s definitely the teachers. Still, there are challenges. I want to stay in it and work on it.
318 – Correct, the school is two thirds populated by the children of illegal aliens who are doing badly. The only real learning going on there is by the children of American parents. The teachers and administrators know this but dare not say it publicly or they’d be fired.
#21 Same stupid comments made about my people who came from the Celtic isles as more or less indentured slaves. Facts clear that the cost of the Irish slave was the lowest cost to the land holder who didn’t want to educate the children.
Same story with every new wave hitting any locale.
Look who are the Supreme Court Judge’s names. Their forefathers emigrated here legally or not.
322 – Sir, you’re correct up to a point, but when the Jews, Poles, Italians, Slovaks, Bohemians, Russians, etc. came in the 1880-1920 wave of immigrants, we needed them (the Irish had come prior to this wave). These mostly illegal immigrants nowadays are not needed and in not too long a time will not be useful people. Plus, of course, they steal from the nation/system (not even talking about their outright criminality) like crazy. The illegal aliens are getting all sorts of benefits (theft) those people you mentioned never got (it was sink or swim for them). You’re attempting to compare apples with oranges sir.
#19 Nothing wrong with trying, but with the Mayor and Council and fellow boe members you will get nowhere! Unless you are ALL on board with making improvements slowly, nothing will ever change. Try to get all the Teachers to start looking like teachers is a start they set the example!
#23; “A vindication of the rights of women” comes to mind when reading your comments. It’s a lack of education that makes one seem inferior to the prejudiced and selectively uninformed.
The cream will rise if educated be it at home or through a public or private system. We are a sophisticated people in Belmar and need an eduacted future.

He was one of my votes this morning.
Are Frank’s people stuffing the ballot box ?
Hey Claire, how come you didn’t vote for yourself, and your “fine” council members???

Enjoy your trip, you deserve it
If I MOVE from ‘Boken to Belmar I”M DA TOP CHOIIIIIIIICE
shots shots shots
Mark Walsifer only cares about himself! He has zero experience that would lend him to being a good mayor!
Hey, i’m just now reading this now. I’m not ANONYMOUS Maria. I swear.
And Tracy is mad at me so it wasn’t her either.

Ms Pierce, how many times did he run for the board opposed?
Being unopposed for any office in Belmar speak volumes for the candidate.
No, it speaks to the lack of involvement most residents have for school board elections!

…but I’d like to work at trying to make it great. Is there a problem with that?
