As the summer of 2018 gets nearer I have to admit it’s getting harder and harder to care about what happens here in New Jersey, and, I must confess, even in Belmar. I just hope the town and the state can hold themselves together for a couple of more years so I can still get something for my house when I go.
I’m going to really miss my friends and if I decided ever not to go that would be the reason. That plus I’d love to disappoint the folks who would really like for me to go.
But the oppressors are relentless.
Christie will probably veto it again but when it comes back for the next governor…like I said, these people are relentless…it will be signed.
Like I said it’s getting hard to care. I can’t change things here, all I can do is try to get away from these people.
For the tobacco user, the fun of a day at the beach, or a day of hiking in the woods, must be weighed against the hours of discomfort from nicotine withdrawal. It’s easy for politicians who don’t smoke to just breezily decide that they would like no smoking because all they care about is looking good to a majority of the population and don’t care if they cause real pain to the minority.
Anyway between the overcrowding resulting from the beach’s excessive promotion and the smoking ban that has been here for a few years now, they’ve already ruined the beach here for me. I only go now to keep my wife company. I would just as soon not go to the beach again until I’m going to the beach in Hampton Beach. If the legislature wants to ruin the rest of the state for smokers I don’t really care.
Actually in a way the state law is better for smokers than Belmar’s current law. Here you get caught smoking you get a ticket. Under the proposed state law you only get a ticket if some authority tells you to put it out and you refuse to do so. 
I wonder how long that “order” lasts. An hour? A day? Forever? I’ll have to find out.
Of course the fines are completely insane, way out of line with the minor nature of the offense. These people are very very mean and like I said my tobacco and my tax dollars (actually a lot less of them since there’s no income tax or sales tax in NH) will soon be consumed somewhere else.
No badges, no cops, no problem!

I am not fond of smokers as it is a health hazard.However, smoking is legal and only the Democrats want to pick and choose what is good for you. It is nothing more than power and control. Bloomberg with his ridiculous law to limit the size of soda. Hey you idiot lawmakers, how about making government more efficient hold them accountable and reduce taxes!
Smoking is only a health hazard to the smoker. Don’t give me that crap about second hand smoke either, cause that’s a ruse. for years the libs tried to get smoking bans and couldn’t. Then they came up with the idea – let’s just say it injures other people and whamo it goes through. What a bunch of crap.
Yes, I don’t know why there can’t be at least compromise with this beach/parks no smoking ban. Agree health hazard to the smoker, not all, especially outdoors. Ban drinking booze by all elected officials so they always have a clear head. See how they like that.
Yep, smoking, now that’s something these misfit politicians can sink their teeth into. As if everybody doesn’t always die of something.
Ironically the same NJ politicians that are against smoking on the beach are in favor of legalizing the smoking of pot…go figure.

Nice to smell the ocean, not cigarette fumes. Plus kids are at the beach and should not have to inhale smoke. Take the dirty ciggs elsewhere

Carbon monoxide poisoning is being offered at the Tarzan rental, 101 16th. The resident crooks say that their landlords electric meter isn’t part of the rental so they hooked up a gas generator out of their back door so they can have electric while surrounding neighbors choke. Drunks using generators? Belmar Fire safety? Code enforcement certificate of inspection??? Who would you call to stop a tragedy from happening?

Police, check; Code enforcement, check, check… we shall see. Hopefully ambulances and safety vehicles will be able to get through if and when a police officer can be dispatched to that location. Never know how many drunks may just fall asleep and not know about the fumes making themselves sleepy, but then again the speed keeps them flying. Remember Connolly Station debacle running the generator under overhang causing second floor residential disaster during Sandy outage?
