$160 fine per person? These fines have no teeth and are useless as any form of deterrent for non-compliance of election finance law. What a mess this state truly has become.

If the employers of these people, if they work for certain companies, find out about this, there could be repercussions. Those who are not conscientious and careful about the “small” things, could not be trusted with larger matters. That is common sense.

It’s a joke, laughing all the way to the bank. Actuarial studies show better to buy a security bond at x amount just in case you or your product is a dud.

That just shows how backed up they are with investigations, and i guarantee there will be more investigations to come.

I think these three people did not take the rules seriously. At least it appears that Nicolay did not because she won the election. Too big to fail and then rely on the bailout. I would guess that the Belmar Democrats paid the penalty in their stead.

It was actually failure to report contributions and expenditures.
The state allowed them to amend their reports. Once they were finally correct, the state allowed them to file these amended reports. State then fined them for correct reports being filed so late.

What was the cost to the STNJ taxpayers (and Belmar more specifcally) for the investigative services involved in the NJ ELECTION LAW ENFORCEMENT COMMISSION securing its judgment in the incompetent Nicolay, et al matter referenced above?

Did Belmar’s attorney also review this or get involved in this matter inasmuchas the Borough Clerk has duties relating to elections in Belmar and, if so what we’re the fees paid by the Belmar taxpayers?

The fine is peanuts as the violation is in comparison to the Passaic Mayor. They all get caught eventually.

Slaughter is harsh, jail is better. Or at least a very big fine…nah, jail. Money can buy one’s way out of most things and no lesson is learned. Not being preachy, just my opinion.
