Life Inside The Inlet Terrace Bubble.

The Mayor’s tender sensibilities are wounded by a dozen silent and sober demonstrators holding protest signs at a political fundraiser he chose to hold at his house.

Screen Shot 2016-08-12 at 8.03.57 PM

The Mayor has blocked anyone who might tell the truth from commenting on his Facebook page so please send your comments here.

What I would like to point out first of all is that this had nothing to do with the Republicans but the Mayor wants his readers to think this is about politics and not about the way his actions hurt people.

More importantly, as one of my commenters has already pointed out, he has repeatedly demonstrated that he does not care one bit about the hundreds of south end residents, many also with young children in the house, who don’t have a handful of silent protesters on the sidewalk on one occasion.  They have hordes of drunken idiots, coming out of the bars that the Mayor is so in love with, vomiting, urinating, defecating, cursing loudly, fighting, fornicating and passing out on their yards night after night after night.

These residents have been pleading for help, begging for some relief, but all they hear from the Mayor is how great D’Jais is for Belmar and about how anyone who criticizes anything he does must be either part of some bad “element” in town or even worse, a Republican.

Someone should play the song, Chubby Checker’s “The Twist”, in front of his house. This guy can spin anything out of what is true and accurate. Yeah, keep the kids out of it, but, eventually the protected Doherty children will ask questions, like “Daddy, why do they call you Dirty Doherty?” Break ’em in now, so there will be no surprises later if he is hauled off to jail.

Invite politicians to your house and expect to keep life uncomplicated and the children naive? In what world? Tuck the family away in the Hamptons or some hideaway in NJ during the coming days. Or take the high road and repent.

Now Lawless Matt is claiming this man was paid to do this and is also claiming he apologized to the mayor and because the mayor is such a good person he has forgiven him. And oh how his cronies are applauding him taking the high road. If anyone knows this man lets see if we can get the truth.

Matt fans, I have absolutely zero problems on who you support and who you feel is best to run the town. Let me just say this to every single voter and taxpayer in Belmar.
If it weren’t for a certain bar in Belmar:
    1) Matt Doherty would never have won the council seat. Remember, at the polls Jim Bean beat him.
2)Matt Doherty would never, ever have been mayor. One of the most qualified persons who has ever run for the office of mayor in Belmar was Richard Wright. A stand up guy who actually cared for the town.

But not “lawless or dirty or about the marina mess nor the pay 2 play con nor the 2500 helicopter ride nor the main reason those “folks” ( his new favorite word) are there, The disregard for transfer of the Harmon License which he is being sued for and of course the 10 lawsuits that they LOST.
    3. Is he kidding about his kids? He’s having a fund raiser as a politician at his house for goodness sake.
    4. And aren’t the Democrats into public protest as a right of the American people? Peaceful protest? Or is that only allowed when THEY do it?
    5. Perhaps what he was really upset about is that all those nice donors think he is the golden boy, the rising star. They don’t KNOW about the lawsuits, or civil unrest HE has created here in Belmar.

This post by the Mayor and the one lashing out and making false accusations about the protest on the Belmar Democrats facebook are rich when considering the protest this past year by the left.
The protesters Wed. eve, did not disrupt, chant , call out or audibly/physically attack the attendees. They did not as instructed by Borough Clerk April Claudio in advance of protest: obstruct the street or sidewalk. Nor did they as stated by the Belmar Democrats “trespass” on private property. In short, these protesters were the counter opposite of left-leaning political protests. This was the first protest for the young man the Mayor featured in his post. I don’t believe he is even a registered Republican. He has two jobs, is respecting of others and frankly made me proud of his generation. I am sure that the recent attacks on him personally will have the opposite effect and that we will be seeing much more of him in the months ahead.

A fund raiser at your house makes protesting in the public space across the street fair game. All the protesters were not Republicans. You are so weak that you don’t allow response comments on your facebook page when you complain about others. You also don’t take the heat at town meetings because you either don’t go or you disrespect citizens when you do go. You are a hypocrite and a whining cry baby.

Only in the “Dirty Jerz” (Sorry, I read that term somewhere, but you must admit, under the state wide cloud of corruption, it fits.) – a protester “on the take” to protest! If this fellow was a plant, who is the prime suspect as planter? Could be a story to defuse the embarrassing situation. About those other photos that Magovern took? Expect more dirty tricks. Thick skin and lots of guts necessary in this borough. Truth must prevail, no matter whom it benefits. The Mayor’s cute lies will bury him eventually.

What a turn of events. I certainly hope that the CoastStar will OPRA the email from the young and repentant man with the sign. Truly an email worthy of an O.P.R.A. request. Perhaps also, the Republicans ( not clear from Matt’s post whether it was someone acting for the RNC, Monmouth Cty Republican Committee or the Belmar Republican Committee who paid the protesters. I would certainly O.P.R.A. the email in order to get to the bottom of “protestgate”.

  16. Doherty’s outrage at Belmar residents’ exercising their right to peaceful assembly and free speech should be another huge red flag for Belmar voters, and for the voters of Monmouth County. Mr. and Mrs. Mayor clearly calculated their personal benefits before planning an event in their home. They were well aware (through our Borough Clerk) of the plan for a peaceful protest prior to last Wednesday. Protesters and police (clearly all neighbors, if not friends) conducted themselves with respect and professionalism. So what is he objecting to? Could it be the posters that …
    Called him a Loser
or the one that said residents Refuse to Conform to Corruption
or declared the Mayor is the Problem
or maybe that he’d Ruined our Marina (and I’ll add is decimating Maclearie Park designated Green Space to the benefit of Chef’s for their daily operations and huge catering capacity.)
or maybe it was the poster that said Lawless Matt
maybe he was offended by the messages saying the Mayor is the Problem, or Dump Dogherty.
Apparently Dogherty is thin-skinned. I don’t see anything objectionable in any of these silently held posters.

$49 millions dollars in debt that’s what Dirty Doherty has done for Belmar. Oh, and the favors to Chefs which will cause our beautiful small town marina to be another loud bar attracting no revenue for Belmar. Actually since it’s on Green Acres any monies received from Chefs must be placed in a separate account and used only to continue to maintain the Green Acres. So Chefs will still benefit as we use their lease funds to maintain their building, and surrounding area. Belmar’s marina our most precious asset with largest revenue potential is gone, thanks to Dirty Doherty.

PS – the marina building is 6,000 sq. ft. so is the 5th Ave building wait till you see that monstrosity and have to start paying operating costs, maintenance and insurance. Then we can all look forward to the tax assessment just around the corner, I mean, election. All those new kitchens, bathrooms and any upgrades made to homes after Sandy will be rated up. Sorry folks the tax situation in Belmar will be a disaster. We can never unring the bell from hell that Matt has rung. We are stuck and many residents will leave Belmar or rent their homes to youngsters, living the life and loving the booze. Welcome to Belmar the booze capital of Monmouth County.

Admin. I have to agree that Matt is not solely a Republican issue, but it now has bled across party lines to include his own. I witness this from some neighbors who historically are staunch Democrats on my block and now have great concern surrounding our Mayors record here in town.

I am a member of the Friendly Son’s of the Shillelagh. A few months ago I ran into the Mayor of a southern Monmouth County shore town and who is a Democrat. Not long before I initially met this gentleman you may recall that Matt had held a press conference on 10th Avenue in front of the Federici Pizza back in April to protest a rate hike from NJNG. We all know that the former Mayor of Belmar – Kenny Pringles’ wife is an officer at this utility.

The mayor of this southern Jersey Shore town said he offered HIS town for Matt to set up his podium for the press conference as not to look so obvious that this was a personal attack against Ken and his bride.

This gentleman was genuinely disgusted with Matt’s actions and shook his head in shame. Matt is losing supporters across the board at a very alarming rate.

#4. Richard Wright was a standup guy BUT, after his defeat he took his ball and went home home. Fact: Wright never gave a penny to any Republican candidate running for office in Belmar. Sad, but true ( see public election records for contributions ) Stand up- I don’t think so. So not so that when the Belmar Democrats ran Schneck and Burke for Council against Magovern and Keown-Blackburn, he and his wife cancelled at the 1th hour for a most needed meet and greet at Kleins. This forced the campaign manager to cancel the event. Wright showed his true colors by not even giving a dime to their campaign. But no wonder, if your not the one running, no sense supporting another Republican. It has been very different with the local Democrats, they get total support even if Zippy the Chimp is running. The truth and just the fcts. Based on the facts, I can anticipate that Mark Walsifer and Nobody Knows Josh Vallario have about $100o. in their war chest ( from prior years ). They will be well matched with the 10’s of thousands contributed for Magovern and Janis Keown-Whatever. But since the majority of us won’t bother to vote. Who cares?

    1. create signs that show your utter disgust and objection to incumbents, Brian MaGovern and Janis Keown- Blackburn at a fundraiser at Brian’s house, 207 S. Lake Drive, Belmar, August 25, 6 p.m.. In order to express just how you feel about their votes and their attitudes toward the people of Belmar these past 4 years. Be creative, remember that Brian’s kids are grown up- out of nest ( nix that reason ) and “the Republicans” whoever Matt said paid the protesters on Wednesday- will not pay for you to protest. Remember, however, if you show up , bo matter Democrat, Independent or Libertarian you are part of a violent Republican movement. God Bless.
