While you guys are sitting around using your computers to watch the latest Netflix movies this computer here is being used to peruse the latest campaign filings over at NJ ELEC. Very exciting stuff.
Anyhow, something I noticed a few weeks ago when I was working on another story but haven’t gotten to writing about until today is on this page of one of Jennifer Nicolay’s filings from last year.
I wrote about Frank Raia with the swimming pool last October but something I noticed more recently is the employer listed by Matt Doherty for his $1000 contribution made on 9/23/15. It was my understanding that Doherty left McKelvey in the summer of 2014. You may recall that during his 2014 re-election campaign I had raised some questions as to whether the mayor was being accurate in his claims about where he worked. You can read the stories here, here and here.
Not two months after the contribution shown above, he contributed $300 to the Belmar Democratic Committee.
In that one he’s back to listing his employer as MetLife. Also, on his financial disclosure statement he lists MetLife as his employer.
BTW, MetLife’s “Associates” page still never heard of him.
Based on these 2015 campaign reports, did he go in 2015 from MetLife back to McKelvey again and then back to MetLife again? I decided to go his Linkedin page and find out. But the link I had saved that gave me this report in 2014 and was captured in this 2014 screenshot…..

I searched and searched and could only find this unmaintained old entry:
.
Still not satisfied that I had done everything I could to try to locate the lost Linkedin page, I went to the advanced search page of Linkedin and searched the entire known Linkedin universe within a 10 mile radius of 07719.
Here’s the first page of results:
Perched at #1 on the list, occupying the epicenter of the Belmar Linkedin universe, reigns our former mayor of twenty years Ken Pringle. Nice going, Ken! Runner up is my neighbor and friend Linda Sharkus. A little down the page is Ellen Seebeck, wife of 2014 council candidate Mike Seebeck. Also on the first page is my friend Chris Solomita.
Let’s move on.
Some of those people look a little familiar to me.
The next few pages didn’t have anyone from Belmar that’s known as a public person so let’s hit the turbo thrusters and go a little further out into the Linkedin Belmar solar system.
Aha.
On page 7 we find Maggie. Still no Matt, though.
We continue on our journey.
I don’t want to be the cause of any friction in the Pringle household but c’mon. Kenny sits majestically at the epicenter of the Linkedin Belmar universe while Kathy languishes on one of Saturn’s moons out there on page 20? Not fair!
We now have left the solar system and careen wildly into the milky way. Here we find Jennifer on page 22.
And in deep space, on page 26 we locate her husband.
On page 45, deep into the outermost reaches of the known universe, seen only by the most highly technical state of the art telescopes, resides sean darcy (sic), husband of Maggie Moran’s partner Laura Matos. I thought he was a marketing guy. What’s he doing out here?
BTW, some of the activities of his company, Round World Consulting, have been covered on these pages.
By the time I reached page 50 I was running out of oxygen so I returned home and wrote this blog post. My trip through the Linkedin Belmar universe was interesting, but I came up empty in my search for the one page that might explain what’s up with this:

From an alternate reality or universe I say that everything is connected, not a new idea by any means. Then I found this explanation of the “butterfly effect” that mentions New Jersey. Very interesting.

I used to love that show on the Discovery Channel called “Connections”. I don’t think they ever did a piece on NJ politics and relationships between players therein.
Thank You Dave, a lot of work. Unfortunately, I ( like many others ) had no idea that he was a FlimFlam Man when we voted for him 5 years ago. When there is a deliberate effort to misrepresent who you are, or to erase your past, it does not bode well for your future. “Fool me one….”
Never could verify any significant employment history. He is a mortgage broker.
He is licensed to sell insurance. He is definitely not a top producer. He is a Jack of all trades master of none. He thinks he can be a career politician that also will be short lived. He will just be a stay at home dad.
He juxtaposed his work history is all.
Ms. Nobody There is also an explanation for global warming, Matt and Claire’s hot air!
Well #6 just ruined this thread, mentioned the C name. I’ll stop reading now.
The question is where did he go from 1995 until the early 2000s? 2 yrs for a
Masters he isn’t at 2000 yet? Very interesting.
We love this pultizer prized blog***
I personally have no problem with Matt being a stay at home Dad. This is after all 2016. What I have a problem with is the ,shall we say, “unclear” record of his employment.
#10 Don’t be concerned with his unclear record. The best part is he entered Financial Adviser as occupation. Matt what exactly happened to the Shop Rite gift cards?? And he wants to be Freeholder??? Yeah right.
Matt is a fraud. Riding Maggie’s coat tails…
I find it funny that his wife doesn’t show / list him as a connection in her Linked profile…
“a stay at home Dad” = idiot (not that there’s anything wrong with that)…
Being a stay-at-home dad is commendable, as long as the other partner brings home the bacon. Who “fries it in the pan” is something else, but then many famous chefs are men. The stay-at-home dads I know are excellent parents. Don’t get me wrong, I am not a Doherty fan, just sayin’ that taking care of kids is a full time job – ask any stay-at-home mom.
The big question is will he screw that up too?
I agree with Ms.P
Doherty is not a stay at home dad. I believe he spends most of his time at Borough Hall.
Admin My comment was that he will be at home after Mayor and assuming he will not be a freeholder. He has no real job so he hangs out at Boro Hall.
And the telephone communication bill for the unemployed mayor’s hang out in Belmar amounts to what each month?
When not at borough hall, he can be found at one of our local bars….
#20 – I would hope so. After all, he is the mayor of Belmar. I wouldn’t want him drinking at a bar in the daytime in another town.
#19 He is not on the phone, he is on the internet checking out the far left websites to get ideas of what kind of mayhem he can do to Belmar.
