On May 27 David Wald, a producer for PBS Newshour, died of cancer at the age of 61. He had coproduced a piece about the efforts of the staff of Belmar Elementary School to help the students and the students’ families in the aftermath of Sandy.
The story featured Assistant Principle Lisa Hannah and when it was aired Wald asked her about the reaction to the piece. She wrote him a beautiful thank you letter about it.
One of Mr. Wald’s colleagues at PBS, John Merrow, featured Ms. Hannah’s letter in a trubute he wrote for his departed friend. Her letter appears about halfway down the page.
Just thought I’d put this out there.

Recovery!
Just don’t give Matt credit.
The teacher’s at Belmar Elementary care about all their students. They don’t get to chose who is in their classrooms, and the dedication and compassion shown in the video is something, as a Belmar resident, I am very proud of!
